I believe Lunardi had us as a tournament twelve seed last week. Looked at yesterday’s new prophecy: no Rutgers, more shockingly, not even in first eight out.

That sounds about right, as far as results go a 1-3 week is not a good week from a bottom line perspective. Was he supposed to move us up to a 10 seed? It makes sense that we’re out. If RU has a great December then they can be put back into the field. They have a Q1 and Q2 game upcoming that sure would help towards getting them on track.

“Was he supposed to move us to a ten?” Why make a wise ass comment like that?

What I expected is that we’d be a bubble team not outside of the first eight out.

He is correct sir. Look at our record and look who we played.
We lost two very tough games this past week to two very good teams. We were not blown out. We did not lay an egg against any mid majors or teams that we were easily expected to beat. Given that, I think the drop off to not even be within the first eight out is kind of ridiculous.

It’s December.
We’re 5-3 with a loss to Kennesaw State. That’s how this works

we beat no one and have a bad loss through 8 games

your first mistake is even looking at bracketology in early December

Hey, Basketball geniuses! Both CBS (Palm) and on3 have us as nine seeds. Boy I wish I knew as much as you guys do.

You may want to look at the responses I got to my original post. The arrogance and condescension is really annoying and absolutely uncalled for.

Why ask a question if you’re going to be snarky when you don’t get an answer you like. Bac2therac knows more about the tournament that anyone here. Also, it’s 12/4

Look in the mirror. Tell me I started the snarkiness.

The preseason top 25 ranking was a mirage as a result of the Dylan/Ace hype. The dynamic duo is clearly the real deal.
But they can't get RU to the Big Dance by themselves. The question is can the supporting cast perform well enough to get us over the hump. So far it doesn't look promising. Maybe they will surprise before the team digs an insurmountable hole. Otherwise, in the annals of RU basketball history, this season will be recorded as the team with two top five NBA draft picks that were left out of March Madness.
Let's hope that's not the case.

i told you brackeology is worthless now and its probably remains so until at least the last week in January

the bracket matrix doesnt even update and that tells you everything
That is irrelevant to my comment. My comment pertained to the judgment of Lunardi and ESPN. It is a stupid take.

By the way, back, I didn’t ask you anything therefore, I don’t need to be told anything by you.

im going to tell you, rutgers has no business being in a bracket so why would Lunardi be wrong. Look he does this for clicks and a few others do but there is nothing serious or relevant about bracketology at this time.

If the season ended today we wouldnt even be on the NIT radar.
Neither would UNC. Some of you love saying, "I told you so." Rutgers could be undefeated, and people here would say they don't belong. 20th-ranked UNC lost by 15 at home against Alabama. Yet I see people dismissing Rutgers' performance against Alabama and Texas A&M. Yes, the Kennesaw State was a bad loss, but it was a true road game. The other games were probably challenging to get up for when it's the sisters of the blind. This team may not be a final four team, but they are better than some of you are willing to give credit.

I feel like I’ve taken a Time Machine back to the Fred Hill days with some of these takes. Look I thought we played decently in those games but we lost both of them. We have two top-3 picks on our roster. We beat the #1 team two years in a row with zero NBA players. Forgive if I don’t do cartwheels because we only lost to Bama by 5

Ok, you see it different I guess. I think we would be dropped even further than first eight out as we had a bad week when you view it results wise, but did we maybe turn a corner and have some really good showings against 2 top 25 teams? Yes. But close losses and moral victories won’t get us to the tourney. With a 1-3 week this early in the year with only 8 games played then a team is going to get dinged for it, especially if one of those losses is Kennesaw. The good news is RU has a ton of season left to stack wins, grab Q1/Q2 wins and avoid any possible Q3/Q4 losses and get the bus moving in the right direction.

I can’t believe the legs on this thread started by a poster who totally lashed out for no reason

I know I don’t dismiss the Bama and A&M games. They gave RU something to hang their hats on and build with for the rest of the season. A confidence builder that shows they belong. However, if we are talking about Tourney resumes, close Q1 losses don’t get you into the Big Dance. I think people are not diminishing their performance, but they are bothered that it was a MISSED OPPORTUNITY, to pick up at least one and maybe two Q1 wins. Vegas may act as a catalyst for this season and for this team to start reeling off wins, but they still did miss out on the opportunity for high quality wins. Both of these things can be true.

It's the negative take on anything Rutgers. Why bother to be a fan if every analysis is always doom and gloom. Then when Rutgers does some great, everyone wants to take credit 🤣 There will be great moments and bad ones, but enjoy the ride without making it horrible for everyone else.

It's early and the B1G has a ton of quad 1 opportunities for Rutgers to capitalize on by the time March is here.

Man there are some people like that who only show up after losses. None of them are in this thread. Saying a team with a loss to Kennesaw St and no quality wins would not currently be in the field isn’t being negative about everything, it’s just reality.

It’s not a negative take on anything Rutgers. It’s what we see as reality and we want Better for Rutgers. I’m a fan but I’m not a sugar coater or someone who wears rose colored glasses. Fundamentally it doesn’t look good and it looks like we’ll have to scratch and claw just to get on the bubble. I want Rutgers to do well and will be happy to Eat crow on some of my analysis here. But after a summer hearing from so many on here that the ncaas were a given and we should win 1+ just because we have two future NBA picks, this start is disappointing. Their reasoning was because looking at other teams who had two high picks blah blah blah. But those teams were Duke, Kentucky etc, with surrounding casts. That’s not reality and there’s a group on here who like to go on facts and not feelings. Doesn’t mean we don’t want Rutgers to do great.

either say will be or may be......right now they aren't

Yep. And there has been more than one team left out of the tournament in the history of this program that was better than this team has shown thus far

It is possible two things can be true:
  1. Currently, in early December, Rutgers would not be in the NCAA Tournament as of today. We've lost to the best team's we've played, lost to a team much worse than us and played close with other teams much worse than us.
  2. There is plenty of season left and opportunities for Rutgers to improve their resume and be a NCAA Tournament team in March
Not sure why that's so devisive for some.

3. There are 20-30 teams more deserving than us, but there is plenty of season left and a lot of opportunity for those teams to tarnish their own resumes.
