BACATOLOGY FINAL NCAA BRACKET

They had serious flaws so not hosed but Bubba put thumb on scales here

Also Texas getting in goes to your point about consolidation changing history and how schools are selected
All these bubble teams have flaw in their resume, comparing UNC's resume to the others is comical. They did not earn a spot in the field, ESPECIALLY when you consider the conference they played in.

UNC: 1-12 Q1, 8-0 Q2, 7-1 Q3, 6-0 Q4
Indiana: 4-13 Q1, 5-0 Q2, 6-0 Q3, 4-0 Q4

Joke.

Not surprising on WVU

4high Q 1 wins but nothing else and 5 losses to non tourney teams

Indiana has a beef vs unc but they will say sos was difference there
Not surprising? You didn’t even have them in play in and 111/111 on matrix.

Not sure

I mean they had 4 high level Quad 1 wins but the NCAA wanted to MAG them

I'll say the Big 12 only with 7 compared to 14 from SEC is interesting. Conference as a whole will need to pick things up next year
It mattered. At 20-13 they would be in.

You think Bubba's compensation gets a bump per the success of the BB program? Maybe some Rams Club perks as well, you know, off the books type goodies? (These are rhetorical questions).
It looked like he was holding a gun behind the head of the assistant commissioner during the interview

Power of Nike and MJ!

I don't think so...over UNC????

Yeah I do. I think the 19 wins vs. 22 for UNC is what gave them a basis of sorts. It’s kinda like when stores make something $19.99 instead of $20. Looks less expensive. 20 looks better than 19 and the gap between 22 and 19 bins looks like a big chump of them.

We played 11 games (counting the St. John’s exhibition), against teams seeded 2-6 (presumably all top 25), and were competitive in all except the 2 Purdue games. Unfortunately, we were 1-10 in those contests (beating only IL).

Rutgers had more Quad 1 wins than Xavier and North Carolina combined

They had win volume. That’s all. The conf tournies got the teams like Texas with high loss count but good collection of wins over the hump. They aren’t in at 17-15.

But when it came to teams like WVU, the committee seemed to say we don’t care that a few of your wins were better than theirs. They cared more apparently, about teams like UNC having 3 extra wins period in that case.

Floux: your projected seed prior to selection actual seed??

Floux: your projected seed prior to selection actual seed??
Yeah, to be clear it's just a ranking system it's not specifically trying to predict tournament selection. But the projected seed is what the seed would be if the tournament were selected with this ranking.

Even towards the top you can see how much better bac's is.

No its ACC look for yourself

Unc Va nc state nd pitt

I’m just saying - VTech has historically received comparative screw jobs relative to their conference brethren. Now I don’t know the history of selection committees - maybe it wasn’t always like this? Less ACC representation in the past?

VTech was left out a couple times with better resume than what UNC has:

2009-10 left out with 23-8 record
2010-11 left out with 21-11 record
2020-21 (autobid so they had to take them) but only received 11 seed with 23-12 record - would’ve been out at 22-12.

How did you do in the competition this year BAC?
I'll find out my Paymon score I think tomorrow. Got 66 of 68 which is disappointing. 49 correct seed and 15 within 1 seed.

An improvement from last year though with seeding. I won't be in the top 10 but hopefully in top 1/3 and I'll be happy with that

220 brackets on the final matrix

215 had West Virginia in
190 had Indiana in

85 Texas
85 Xavier
53 North Carolina

Have to check on any perfect brackets 68 of 68 selected. I think there may have been one

criminal?

texas deserved to get in

the only team with a beef is north carolina and youd be splitting hairs with west virginia

indiana did not do enough although i can make a case if you wanted indiana and west virginia in you could probbaly make a better case against xavier than texas

15 losses is just too many....12-15 vs Q1/2/3 with a horrible non conference sos meaning its a school that you can easily leave off. Yes there are great wins better than any bubble but child please. Now set a new precident going forward for SEC schools. Schedule like crap and benefit from the rest of the conference at the top

North Carolina inclusion a nod to predictive metrics and now usuing WAB more prominently. Who cares if your computer scores are good when you lose every game you play against top competion..we are selecting the best but we are selecting a team with one vs field and 1-12 vs teams that are better than mediocre. If it was Rutgers with this resume they dont get in...

Indiana really had a weak resume..there by default but on precident they should have been picked.....4-13 in Q1 is better than unc and at least they won at Michigan State

West Virginia has a beef. In most years WVU would be right on the bubble..this year sucked, last year they would have easily been behind the BE bubbles. 4 high level wins but nothing after that and 3 months of mediocre play. Yet its supposed to be body of work not recent play. Definitely hurt by 5 losses to non tourney teams but sheesh if you compare them to Unc or even Indiana, the wins are clearly here.

I get why Xavier got picked...yes just 1 Q1 wins but 3 wins vs field and clean resume with alot of Q2/3 wins.

omg Bubba is downplaying the use of Quad 1 wins but thats the only reason Texas got in

going to predictive metrics to select schools is utter garbage.....its what you do on the court..wins and losses and what type of schedule you play

using the WAB now to select schools

the reasoning for Michigan makes no sense.

He is saying they were up and down. Hello Purdue was an up and down 5. Michigan was 2nd in the Big 10 standings and won the Big !0 tournament, does not sound like up and down

WVU got Magged but it seems arbitrary since some other schools had injuries and didnt get seeding dings.

another complaint I have is that it appears the selection committee wants no part of mid majors....its seen in the seedings

vcu and uc san diego had no shot if they didnt win the conference tourneys....drake at 11 shows some disrespect as well..would they even get in??????

once again strong non conference from schools like Memphis trumps any bad losses...their 5 seed is insane really....8th on the matrix..

Gonzaga a 8 seed..are you kidding me. in their case they seem to ignore metrics

so yeah this year IMO the committee with 5 new members was as inconsistent and arbitrary as ever...I think all the historical stuff besides conference tourneys not really mattering is tossed out the window going forward
