Bacatology 3/10: NCAA Tournament Analysis

Boise State defeats New Mexico

Did the Broncs punch their ticket or do they need to win tomorrow...this conference will not get 5 so the Broncs need to hope Colorado State gets knocked

If Colorado State beats Utah State...its bid stealer final with the Rams and Boise

IMPACT GAMES

ACC

Duke/Louisville in the ACC final. Duke has wrapped up a 1 seed. Louisville likely a 6.

AMERICA EAST

Bryant/Maine in the AE final.

AMERICAN

Memphis needs to beat Tulane to eliminate a potential bid stealer. UAB/North Texas potential bid stealers lurking in other semi.

ATLANTIC 10

VCU must beat Loyola to bolster their resume in case they do not win the A10 tourney final.
George Mason only hope is to win the A10 finals so they must beat St Joe's to get there but both they and St Joes do lurk as potential bid stealers if VCU is thrown a bone by the committee

BIG 12

Houston/Arizona in the Big 12 final. Houston has wrapped up a one seed. Arizona is likely a 4 no matter the result.

BIG EAST

St John's/Creighton in the Big East final. St John's is close to a mortal lock as a 2 seed. Creighton currently on 8/9 has a small chance to move to a 7 with a win here.

BIG TEN

Michigan State has wrapped up a 2 seed
Wisconsin would appear to be a 4 with an outside shot of a 3 with a win over Michigan State today.
Maryland looking solidly as a 4 with a small chance at a 3 with a Big 10 Tourney championship.
Michigan up to the 5 line probably stays there with small chance at a 4 with a Big 10 tourney championship

BIG WEST

UC San Diego/UC Irvine in the Big West final. Their at large chances are uncertain but UC San Diego is better positioned to take a loss and make the Big West a two bid league. Much higher hill to climb for the Anteaters of UC Irvine.

CONFERENCE USA

Liberty/Jacksonville State in the CUSA final.

MAAC

Mount Saint Mary's/Iona in the MAAC final.

MEAC

South Carolina State/Norfolk State in the MEAC final.

MAC

Miami (Ohio)/Akron in the MAC final.

MOUNTAIN WEST

Colorado State likely needs to beat Boise State in the Mountain West Final to make the NCAA tournament. Resume falls a bit short as an at large.

Boise State is in the field today as an at large and while in better shape as an at large candidate than CSU, not confident the Mountain West is going to get 5 bids.

SEC

Florida will make it academic for a one see with a win over Alabama. Even a loss here they still have decent shot.
Alabama must defeat Florida to have any shot at the last one seed. A victory still would not necessarily mean the Tide are a one over either Florida/Tennessee
Tennessee's only shot at a one seed is defeating both Auburn and the Florida/Alabama winner and yet that still may leave them as a 2 seed.
Auburn has clinched not only a one seed but the overall one seed.

SWAC

Alabama State/Jacksonn State in the SWAC final.

WAC

Grand Canyon/Utah Valley State in the WAC final.

What seed would you give UC San Diego if they lose to UC Irvine today? A play in 11 seed with UC Irvine as a 12? Do you just go with 1 team for the Big West?

it going to be a tough call there. Have to see what happens in Mountain West too.

I would hope UC San Diego gets in. From listening to the comments of Warnock, it appears the field will be set by the end of that game, whether they are making a contingency bracket for them is another question.

I think Irvine would be seeded 12th and UC San Diego in the play in game as a 11 or 12 seed, leaning towards all 11 play in this year.

I am very concerned how the ACC has been able to sneak an extra school in every single year with very poor resumes so wouldnt be surprised about UNC and they will claim yesterdays comeback was the reason

Very curious to see how Committee evaluates Indiana / Texas / Xavier / Vandy and UNC

All have serious warts.

Texas has 15 losses
UNC has 1 quad win.

Texas would be unprecendented for a school 3 games under 500 at 12-15 in Q1/2/3...tough sell despite 7 wins vs the field and 7-10 and 7-13 vs the field

UNC 1-12 in Quad 1 and 1-10 vs field

Indiana is 4-13 in Quad 1 but just 2-10 vs field

Xavier is 1-9 in Quad 1 and 3-7 vs field

Boise is 3-5 in Quad 1 but now with CSU the projected AQ would be 6-6 vs field

Colorado State is 2-5 in Quad 1 and 5-6 vs field

Utah State is just 2-4 in Quad 1 and 5-6 vs field

San Diego State is 3-6 in Quad 1 but 7-7 vs field and a feather in their cap win over Houston, I cannot see how they can leave them out because of that win.,

I would be stunned if Texas made it. 6 games under .500 with nothing in non-league play.

I’m prepared for UNC to not only make it but also get a road that is favorable to get out of the first weekend.

I wouldnt call wins over Kentucky, Texas A&mM nothing...but also league record isnt considered. They have more than enough quality wins, the issue is the losses overall...at 20-14 they would easily be in.

the unc stuff infuriates me because take the name away and do blind resume and this would be thrown in the trash. I am not impressed with Indianas resume but at least they have a road win at Michigan State and havent lost outside Q1....UNC lost to stanford at home

Bubba factor at work…..comeback?! That’s crazy, they didn’t even win, I get it that it is not you saying that but more what the Committee would say to justify it in that instance…..anything to get a blue blood in the tourney I guess
