March 2022 Crystal Ball

This season will set the team back astronomically. Recruits, even 3-4 stars, want to play in the ncaas and this season screams you can’t get there with RU. If you would have told me 35 months ago that we’d be back to laughing stock and Pike and not one, but two five stars would lead us there I would have called you nuts.
I get what you're saying but the fact is, you can get there with RU as seen by those 2 appearances that feel like so long ago. It's the coaches that can't get us there. The players aren't exactly innocent either but the coaches get paid to figure it out. It's clear that big changes are needed. There's no reason RU can't be a consistent winner with the right leadership.

The 3 stars will still come here. That’s the problem.

Even if Pike’s manages figure out the retention element of making his previous model work in the transfer portal era (a la Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan State, Purdue), the clock has been effectively been set back to 2017.

We have 2.5 guys in the program (still not sold on JMike, plus, you know, he’s short haha), that can become viable B10 players. It’s Year 9 or whatever and we’re years away again. Does anyone have the patience for that?

Or maybe it won’t. Let’s where the good players we are in on for 2026 decide to go. Next years incoming class is not bad and more in line with what Pike is better at doing. If we retain Somerville, Grant, and Dorthy that is a few more top 150 kids and ones with some college experience. The second half of your post I 100% agree except with the word laughing stock major disappointment and shit show is more applicable.

Not worth the time analyzing. Pike and the entire coaching staff is cooked. They ran out their hero arc. We’ll have a sub-10 win season next near after everyone transfers out (Jmike, Lathan, Grant are all gone, no idea how anyone thinks they’re coming back) and Pike will be run out of here like the bulls of Pamplona.

New AD hire is the key to next decade of success or failure here.

Wow, haven't we learned that in the Big 10 you must be 8 to 10 deep? Can you honestly say we're that deep??

This year Pike moved away from this principals of defense first and its shown. Drive to be basket against Rutgers, no one steps in and stops the drive.

I'm very positive about next season as the core lead by JMike and Grant, we can do alot of great things! Sure a transfer or 2 could help but I see a renewed focus after this run!

Not sure we’ll keep Grant

Figure we have at least $2mil in rev share to play with that we didn’t have this year That money will in part will be used to try and keep Grant and Somerville.

Well be a better program filling out the roster with top 50-100 than top 1-10. We’ll be a much better program next year if we retain the roster that doesn’t graduate/enter the draft.
