Marcus Valdez Commits to BC

Rutgers is not everyone's cup of tea, especially when they have real options.

Yeah the cup of tea thing yada yada yada. We've heard that a million times. But where is BC on this list because I honestly can't find them? RU is #50 so the "real options" thing is just total garbage.

Please stop it. BC is not on the same level as the Ivies or Duke for that matter.
------
you are not following what I said...... I did not say that BC is as good as the Ivies, but if you consult a college entrance book (petersons eg), BC is or was a tier one school, like the Ivies..... If you examine the tier one colleges more closely, it becomes apparent that within the tier one level, BC is not as hard to get into the Ivies... But again, they were a Tier one college, where RU is a tier two......

What this basically means is that BC is more highly regarded than RU..... If you don't believe this, stop in a Barnes and noble and open up a college guide or two......

Many a player had chosen RU over BC along the way, as I said, RU is wildly respected in its own right.

From Marcus Valdez in Todderick's article:

"My head coach, Coach (Greg) Toal, he sent his two kids there. And I talked to him and he told me his honest opinion on the school. And I mean, it pretty much showed a lot because I know he wouldn't send his kids just anywhere," said Valdez. "Brian (Toal) had offers from everywhere. He was one of the best players in the country. So I know sending him to BC, I know it meant a lot. There must have been something about the school, for him to send his son there. And he has a great job now, so the connections and stuff are definitely great.

"And plus, coach Campanile who coached at Bosco for a good time, he's a great leader. And I've talked to a lot of people about him and they say he's a special coach."

would have liked to have him but you can't get everyone, good luck to the kid.

Brian Toal went to BC and then was literally never heard about again. BC reminds me of Villanova. People from wealthy backgrounds (or who like catholic school style education) send their kids there for the status symbol. But the school is more known for having a lot of rich kids than the world class education they sell to you. Duke, that is a world class education and the kids on that campus don't walk around like they have a blazer made out of $20 bills.

Toal was posterized by Brian Leonard.

I guess being Big East Rookie of the Year and on Bednarik and Butkus Watchlists as a junior qualifies as being never heard about again. He was an excellent college player, All American caliber and legit NFL prospect. He got hurt. That happens. BC can come under a little fire b/c he was initially hurt in a short down offensive set, but don't pretend that Toal wasn't very productive b/c he didn't go to Rutgers!

A HS head coach said it so it must be true.

This coach is one of the most successful coaches in New Jersey. I would venture to say he knows far more than you about how to develop good football players and what the traits of a successful coach are.
If he says Coach Campanile is an excellent coach, I think his statement has some credibility, certainly more than statements by "experts" here with zero experience mentoring young people.
I am not saying I accept his evaluation 100%. We all have our biases, and I have never met him or Mr. Campanile. I am only saying a reasonable person should consider the fact that Campanile might in fact be considered an excellent coach by at least some of those in the same profession; the people close enough to the situation to see exactly how he operates. We have seen positive reviews of his work from other sources over the year, so I am not ready to dismiss him as an incompetent as quickly as you appear to be. I would not be surprised to see him end up on the RU staff again at some time in the future.

Well he was an excellent college player his freshman year, sophomore ehhh, 50 tackles and 49 yds rushing?. Not exactly the stats of an elite player. Then he really didn't play much his junior and senior years do to injury. So those watchlists you brought up were useless, hell they name like a 100 guys for those at the beginning of the year. I would hardly call that an excellent college career or player.

But hey he's got those two UFL championships playing for the Las Vegas Locomotives to hang his hat on. Let's face it BC playing him both ways ruined him, as he got injured on offense where he specialized in short yardage. So yeah, this career basically does qualify as never being heard from again. That is unless you were a fan of the Las Vegas Locomotives, me I didn't even know there was such a team ever in existence.
