Also Taggart hired jim leavitt as the DC at oregon.

it should be noted that kyle flood is still without a football coaching job.

Mario to Oregon? I'm sure his wife ain't happy about that! Must be trouble in paradise.

Just think. If Tim and Bob did things right, we would have PJ Fleck, Mario Crisobal, Captain Kirk and Robb Smith on staff. How did we let all of this talent out the door?

Should've tucked our tail between our legs and begged for Schiano to come back.

I read he's suppose to be co-oc/ol coach. Not sure who will be other co-oc. I don't think Cristobal has called plays before.

Side note: Cal seems to be zoning in on Wisconsin DC Justin Wilcox as their next coach.

Hard to believe Mario would have destroyed the program as bad as Elmer Flood (and Hermann) did..even if he tried..
RU again being cheap over a few hundred thousand not hiring Cristobol, is now costing them millions to fix in the end .

They offered him a lot more than they offer Flood. He was going to take it but His wife didn't want to live in NJ and talked him out of it, She wanted to stay in Florida. He been to jobs at terrible places ever since... Karma.

Maybe I'm way off but Taggert and Cristobel seem like a very strange fit up in the Northwest of Oregon. Will be interesting to watch what happens there the next few seasons.

She couldn't continue her socialite lifestyle in Florida once her sugar daddy lost his job. Then Miss high and mighty had to move to the Alabama social scene, now Oregon. I hope her next stop is Alaska Anchorage University.

Can we just stop? There is NO WAY of knowing how well Cristobal would have done here. None. And NONE of you were bitching when we were 8-5 our first year in the Big Ten, and in fact most of you were acting like it was much more significant than it actually was, what with a 3-5 league mark including a very tight home win over the worst Michigan team ever. But now we would have been 10-3 with Mario?

Flood sucked. The timing of Schiano leaving sucked more. It's just the way it was. If Mario didn't come here, we had about six hours for another option before signing day. NOW we know you never EVER hire a coach to keep one class together, no matter how talented. Short-term thinking. But the Bucs calling at that time almost guaranteed the decision would be made too quickly, whether it was elevating Flood or hiring someone else or even paying someone else.

Please please please can we move on?

LOL. But, but, but, but Mario was a great recruiter . . . . . .AT ALABAMA, where even KF could probably be an ace recruiter.
Here's what matters, his record at FIU:
2007 : 1-11
2008: 5-7
2009: 3-9
2010: 7-6
2011: 8-5
2012: 3-9
24-47 after 6 seasons.
Maybe FIU is destined to lose. Ron Turner took over in 2013, and his record after 4 years was 10-30.

Wait, wat????? The man we wanted as HC 5 ****ing years ago still is not a P5 HC??? WTF- we screwed that's up

It's amazing how a gig as OL coach at Alabama lands you a OC job at a school that played in two NC games. Congratulations Mario. As for your wife, I suggest buying one of those golf umbrellas because it rains all the time in Oregon.

Yes , I was bitching in 2012 when flood was hired. Yes , I was bitching during the 2012 season when the guy bad no clue. I continued to bitch in 2013. I didn't bitch after the unc bowl win in 2014, actually really hoped the dude figured it out. Then a month later the recruiting class - and I continued to bitch.
I just will never understand how this university hired someone that pretty much everyone except Tim p knew would stink.
We will all move on when we remove the flood stains and have a team we can be proud of.

You guys are too funny with the wife interfering stuff.

That's not what happened.

This falls on Pernetti

Pernettis hands were tied because Rutgers did not want to spend big money on a coach, and he had strict parameters to work with. Also there was a lot of uncertainty due to the conference situation. Had Pernetti had to make the choice a year later, with Rutgers in the Big Ten, the choice likely would have been different.

Comments about Robb Smith like he is the next Belichick are crazy....when this guy had any type of success he was in the right place at the right time and had very little to do with the success. He is also a huge recruiting liability....has said how much he hates it and it shows
