Martini on Lee

Lee was taking anyone to the basket. Any big we had was going to be targeted. You can’t blame Martini. If anything is to blame it was the game plan to defend Princeton. The players were put in spots that they couldn’t handle.

You convinced me. My eyes told me otherwise, but your right, Martini has been great!

I actually think he did really well against Lee. Lee is a really good player and cooked us last year too. No NIL either. Just old fashioned college player. Give me Lee any day on my team.
Lee got a check to stay

When people say "NBA plays no defense" based on a couple of highlights think of Martini on Lee.

NBA teams do this nearly every play all game long.
You could have Caleb and Mag on the floor.
They arent getting close to Lee.

It's not just mindless drives to the hoop like our offense.
NBA teams run deliberate offenses to get players the ball in advantageous situation.
Same as Princeton was doing with Lee.
There is much less switching in the NBA. They wouldn’t want a big switching onto a guard more than 20 feet from the basket, any guard in the NBA would blow by and either get to the hoop or find an easy assist.

It was clinical the way they orchestrated those switches. Either switch to the mismatch, or don't switch and give Lee a clear lane to the basket on the screen. There's was no help in the lane, because they were floating their big wide... same way they pulled Omoruyi away from the rim.
Every team does it to us. We need to stop switch everything. We don’t have the foot speed to play this way.

When they continually hunt a player, it's hard not to switch those screens with out giving up open shots or lanes to the basket. They made the right move but it was too late. Playing ace at center and dercak at the 4.. someone should have helped dercak out with pierce though...

This is ON PIKE

We should have forced a double team ….and get the ball out of his hands and see if someone else was good enough to move it around …especially later in the shot clock .

Plus … we did NOTHING to force him to his left. He killed us going right and we didn’t force him to test if he could make it happen going left

Plus ….we had Bailey and two centers out there for how long ??? We should have had derkack at center the last 4-5 minutes when they were determined to play high pick and roll

Today was a poor coaching effort with pike, and I would have said it even if the last shot rolls out
They've almost all been poor coaching efforts Shack.

Even the wins.

Lee got his 4th foul with 5:15 left in the game, but we never went after him to foul him out. I’ve noticed this in other games when an opposing star gets 4 fouls. Pike just does not seem to believe in “going after” opposing players.
Henderson had 4 fouls at 12 mins

Dunno when 33 got his 4th

Ace Baldwin got his 4th at 12 mins...I lost my fkng mind yelling at Pike to go at him

You are right tho...we don't go after players in foul trouble

If only we had a player who could go to the rim at will...oh, wait

No but watching that sequence 4 plays in a row and Pike do NOTHING was infuriating. Then he finally calls timeout.

Wait!!!! He comes out of the time out with the same lineup and no adjustments??? No zone? Go small so they can’t hunt a big?

That 4 play sequence followed by a timeout with NO adjustments out of it. That sums Pike up and officially ends his coaching career.
