because more than half the board and everyone outside of NJ wants to know why we don't have a better qb!!!!!!

We have disagreement on this board about what constitutes mediocre. 7 and 5 is decent, maybe, but not very good. 6 and 6 by definition is mediocre; even if you beat someone good you lost as many games as you won. You are what your record says you are. I think most college football fans agree with me. That's why they don't fawn over our team's achievements.

Auburn might have been the worst .500 team in all of college football going into the postseason. We would’ve beaten them by 20. They gave absolutely no shits about this game.
I’m pretty sure the fact that he’s looking at bringing in another starting quarterback AT ALL tells you that he is willing to move on from Gavin.
GS is the HC. He is paid to win games. If he can bring in top QB, he would jump on it. But we don’t have access to that market. QBs we are looking at are ones that are not guaranteed to be better.

The player was spurned by Fleck, recruited over and wanted out along with his brother. He’s not a top QB portal prospect.
Isn’t it also possible that Schiano tried to sell him on a soft landing reuniting with Ciarrocca, being QB2 and a major asset in continuing to help GW learn the system ?
Is this a reasonable alternate theory ? Unless proved otherwise, I think it’s more likely this is the offer and it was turned down and not a silent verbal to protect GW’s psyche through the bowl game, as is the common theory here. If they were looking to protect Wimsatt, they wouldn’t have had the public visit in the first place.

you can't sell that to the posters that feel a QB with 6/20 for 126 yards is HOF material and bash the RU QB for his 7-15 for 86 yards in Pinstripe
Both QBs don't deserve praise, yet the non RU one seems to be a Joe "Willie " clone to some posting in this thread.

Just wanted to point out that until Maryland went into the SEC heartland and blew Auburn off the field while missing their best player at the most important position, nobody was saying anything like that. Auburn, who lost on a fluke play a few weeks ago to a CFP team (a week after Maryland lost a tight game to another CFP team), was favored by a touchdown. In the bowl thread right here on TKR, nobody thought Maryland could win. Auburn players and coaches were doing everything they could, but to no avail.
I get that some people in fan base A will never have any respect for Team B. No matter what happens on the field, that game is always a "tossup" for next year. We all do that. But just wanted to provide some counterpoint.
Maryland beat both Rutgers and Auburn by exactly 18 points in "road" games (in very similar games, actually -- big start, plodding methodical finishes). So I don't see the basis of your 20 point prediction above.
It's all good, though. As all of you know, I am always very happy to see Rutgers succeed, and, thanks to my son, wear far more Rutgers apparel than Maryland apparel on a regular basis. I even have a Scarlet Knight on my truck (not sure who put it there, ha ha, but I left it).

In yesterday's game, Maryland's quarterbacks showed some positives and some negatives. Pretty much as expected for backup quarterbacks who did not play much during the year. It will be interesting to see how much they develop before next year. Maryland also has a quarterback coming in from NC State who looks like he may be pretty decent.
MD is a better team than we are, anyone refuting that either doesn't know football or has scarlet glasses on. MD did what they needed to do and helped the BIG so hats off
The contrast between the two teams at the most important position (qb) is striking.

it's Greg's fault, his management of qbs is an issue and has been for a long time. I told you all that him having Vedral pegged as starter for yr 3 is huge red flag. We're a BIG team, having a qb that not a single BIG would start screams small time and narrow thinking. We need better qb play and believe after this year, Greg will make that happen. If he doesn't, we continue to underachieve like this year relative to our personnel. Our team is good, lots of players in place to win and even surprise a team or two. Just need a qb
Nevermind that he wouldn’t start anywhere in the Big10. He wouldn’t start anywhere in FBS. He’s a QB who can’t throw and doesn’t run RPO either. He contributes next to nothing as a true QB.
It would be an improvement for the offense if Sam Brown would take snaps and GW should only come in on third and long, just like Schiano did with Savage (but for different reasons).
But then again, not sure GW offers anything on third and long either. May as well punt at that point.

That being said I 100% firmly believe that the Rutgers team which played, Thursday, would have easily handled the Auburn team which played yesterday. They looked like absolute shit and we would've taken advantage of those TO's, just like Maryland did, IMHO.
BTW - I've said it a million times: never take into account major rivalry games when discussing a team's season/potential outcomes of another game/etc..

Also...Maryland did a GREAT job yesterday. No question. They went out there and took advantge of a team that looked like they had zero desire to be there and gave The Terps plenty of opportunities. While Maryland ONLY had 310 total yards of offense they completely took advantage of 4 Auburn TO's and good field position. I honestly believe we would've/could've done the same. Agree, disagree, no big deal. Just an opinion.

Watched the BTN in 60 version and totally agree. Thought Maryland's defense looked better than the offense. As for the topic of this thread, what a huge jinx and/or swing/miss. The QBs and the WRs looked absolutely awful for Maryland.

I pretty much doubled-down on my support of Flood in the late summer of 2015, thinking he was being targeted for a bit of a witch hunt...and then the WSU/Hale Center debacle happened and the 'I'm writing this from a personal account to circumvent request laws' and subsequent information came out and my support was pretty much vaporized.

I supported Flood feeling he might grow into the job.
But once the program started looking rouge because of players getting into trouble and his meet the professor act, I felt he needed to go.
I felt In the beginning of Kyle's tenure there were RU fans that refused to give him a chance to prove he could keep RU a winner.
They proved right about Flood bringing the program down.
I don't feel it was as much of him being a bad HC , but the way he ran the program and not getting the type of talent that would help Rutgers be a winner was his problem
I'd say he wasn't ready to be the boss of the football program and it showed by the way his players acted and how he had to recruit talent with questionable character trying to
make the team a winner.
In my opinion, as a game strategist, Flood relied on his coordinators calling the plays during the games.
I started the thread because Maryland came out with their back up red hot passing the ball instead of keeping it on the ground, and scored easily as opposed to OSU's back up QB who couldn't throw at all. It had nothing to do with our QB who I think is pretty good.
His numbers ended up laughably bad in the bowl game, but he played enough last year for me to know that he can pass adequately. He's also a really good open-field runner. I don't know why they don't switch him to tight-end or fullback (whatever they call that nowadays), because I don't see him playing behind center at Maryland in the future. The NC State transfer, who Coach Locksley really wanted because he is a perfect fit (apparently; that's over my message board head), has several years of eligibility left.
Especially with Antwain Littleton transferring out, they need the big body with good hands. He could do that...
ETA: LOL that he won the bowl game MVP. I agree with KnightShift that it was the defense that was stellar that game, even with the opt-outs, not the offense...

Kind of disappointing if you look at the schedule they played and having a talent in Taulia at QB that will be extremely hard to replace. Besides playing the East teams, OOC consisted of Towson, Charlotte(3-9), Virginia(3-9) their crossovers in the West were Illinois, Northwestern and Nebraska. It was a schedule tailored made for better than 7 regular season wins.
