Very, very, disappointing loss. We had the game in our sticks several times & couldn't close it out. Tried to rush things & force it. Showed a lack of poise. Unforced turnovers & a lack of poise at the end killed us. Unfortunately as much as I like Brecht, I believe our play in crunch time reflects on the coach as well. We can play with anyone & can win out. Just have to do it.

I have to imagine even with the loss our confidence is sky high right now going into a de facto elimination game vs PSU, unlike PSU who suddenly needs to regroup fast after a 2 game losing streak. Loser could easily be sitting at home in May.

Agree 100%.

3 shots to win. I think only one of them would have been considered a "good" one.

Lousy pass resulting in a turnover.

Defensive breakdown at the end.

The defense played very well. We played very well except for one thing. The multitude of unforced turnovers. It destroyed us at times. If that is fixed, we can accomplish great things this year!

The unforced errors has been an achilles heel for us this season. With our fast paced play, you expect some in the course of being aggressive. Those you live with. Simple transition passes like the last one we had on offense against Maryland is not acceptable. Those are the ones that will have Brian pulling his hair out. I know I was.

Even with those we had multiple chances to win the game. We will learn from this and be better moving forward. We may have lost the game, but there are definitely some positives to take away and some clear things to work on.

Maryland would be the odds on favorite to win the championship right now. We stood toe to toe with them playing what I would consider our B game. You can argue they did too, but still. One thing is clear. We have the athletes to compete with anyone. Maryland recruiting has been off the charts, and by the look of it, you would think we are right there too.

This league is such a grinder. It's incredible. Every game is a war for every team. Penn St. will be one too.

My son started to play lacrosse this year for the local 9 - 10 year old team. We've wanted to get to one of the home games but the RU-Maryland was the first we were able to attend. I have to say that it was incredibly exciting to watch and I can't wait to get back for another one.

I just need to figure out what the various rules are. It is relatively easy to figure out what is going on as the teams setup on O or D (at least on a basic level) but outside of one offsides call, I had no clue what the refs were calling or why.

I wonder if the B1G will decide to change the tourney format next year to a 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5 first round with 1 and 2 seeds getting a bye. With the ultra competitiveness of the conference it's a shame that a very good team deserving of postseason play will be left out.

In reality you could have a pretty good team sitting at home for the B10 tournament. The only team that really is a lock is Maryland. It would get really nuts if Hopkins and Ohio State beat Maryland. Rutgers needs to win at least 1 of the next 2 but winning both would lock us in.

I think the season comes down to next Sunday night vs PSU in State College. Loser is likely SOL unless bedlam happens in the last week of the season.

I think one of either OSU or PSU gets us in, but there is so much at play. How our opponents do that we beat would be very much part of the calculus if we get one of two.

You have to win home games in this league. We didn't against Maryland. Can Penn St. next Sunday? They haven't been lighting the world on fire lately and I think we match up with them well. Our defense is a strength to compensate for their very strong offense, and I think our offense can put up numbers on their D. They look suspect. Our midfield seems to more athletic from what I can see. Hopefully number 3 is back.

Francisco was a bear & gave us every chance to win. Edelmann was also terrific. During the week told my wife that Maryland would try to take Mullins out of the game. Really surprised how completely & effectively they did it. He was a complete non factor. Can any of you guys who know the X's & O's comment on that. Was it just one D in his jock, or was it defensive schemes, or what?

I didn't see anything crazy, but they definitely didn't allow him to his stronger hand and were blanketing him more inside. They had their top guy on Jules, like every team does. Like most young guys, even the really good ones, they can be inconsistent, which he really hasn't been. He just so happened to have his best and worst game back to back, but overall he has been pretty consistent. Consistently really good. He is having a helluva year. So much upside with him. And we have some really good guys coming in behind him at the attack position. The recruit from Illinois and the kid from Georgia are really good. They are going to add some nice depth to an already stacked group. They have a different skill set than what we have now too, which is nice.

Agree he has been great all year long. Did see that he wasn't getting anything inside. Just wasn't sure why. Interesting to hear about the recruits.

Francisco was incredible. He was the reason I thought we would pull it out when we tied it with under a minute to go. Knew he would win the face off and then the one to start OT giving us 2 shots to win before MD would get possession.

That was against a really good faceoff guy too. Hopefully he has the same results against the kid from Penn St., whom Maryland's faceoff guy absolutely destroyed.

But faceoffs are about match-ups, so it's hard to predict. Even so, Francisco has been on fire lately.
