Melo Trimble not drafted

The B1G decided it would be open season on Melo, and not call a foul because Izzo and Chambers bitterly complained.

I think he'll do fine for 76ers the NBA calls fouls and hand checking now. Funny it used to be the opposite where the NCAA didn't allow that contact. Now with Curry, the NBA wants guards to move free. So I think he'll do better and make a squad. His defense is my number one concern, but I think he can make it.

Melo had to go to the NBA, it was 100% clear to me they would not call a foul for Melo anymore. There were games he wouldn't get to the line until 5 minutes left in the 2nd half.

Melo didn't get worse shooting, the B1G refs caved into the coaches.
The reduction in fouls drawn by Trimble mainly happened when he came off of ball screens or got to the rim, not when he attempted three-pointers. Which, btw, Trimble attempted fewer three-pointers as a freshman than he did in his sophomore or junior seasons.

As a sophomore and junior Trimble still drew five fouls per 40 minutes, but he shot 79 percent from the line last season compared to 86 percent as a freshman and sophomore.

I got all this, but I am telling you he was hurt a lot of last two years with ridiculous fouls. I sit court side and a ref even flat out told us before a game, he's not getting the calls he got last year because of the hell they got from the other coaches. What can you do at that point?

Stats don't always reflect what actually happens, but most people don't get worse from their freshman year.

There's no question that he didn't get many of the calls he got as a freshman. Also injuries did play a role (back, hamstring & I think a hip).

Trimble drew a lot of foul calls with his head jerk during his freshman year. Which I actually thought was awesome

Agree Russ. I argued with fans at a game his freshman year in college park that he had to go pro that season. Was a very weak PG class (he was rated slightly below Tyus Jones who went first round) and seemed obvious that it would be hard to raise his profile from that point unless he went ballistic. As a guy who looked at the time like a mini Harden (only taking 3s layups and FTs, running spread pick and roll), there's no way he should've returned to school. Especially given Turgeon's questionable track record improving players.

They were fouling him outside the 3 point line?

Yea but that is more than a whine. Does anyone really think the Big10 singled him out to not call fouls?
I do. I watched almost every Maryland game the past three seasons and many of the calls he got his freshman season he didn't get the past two seasons.

Chambers complaining probably didn't carry as much weight as Izzo.

Still, Maryland has finished in the top three in the B1G each of their seasons in the conference.

I'm sure that doesn't sit too well with some influential people in the B1G

I'm still not buying a Big 10 conspiracy theory against Trimble.

Hopefully Corey sees that and realized he definitely made the right call coming back. Maybe some extra motivation to really step his game up if he wants to get drafted
Corey knew that going back to school was his best option. However he still wanted to go out there and see for himself what the deal was. He is not unhappy about being back at school. It is his dream to go into the NBA but it needs to be at the right time. His family was 100% in support of him testing the waters again and trying to see where he was with all this

What is says is that small guards are a dime a dozen and that Sanders isn't ready for the NBA.
No but very very close. Corey is very close to being very ready period actually when he was working out with some NBA teams some even express some desire to have him work out with them. He'll be ready by the end of this year just you wait and see

Harden was a much better shooter in college.

Harden was a much better shooter in college.

I specifically said Melo's freshman year, in which he shot 41% 3pt on 4.2 attempts per game and 86% FT on 6.9 FTA per game. Compared with Harden two seasons at ASU of 38% on 3.9 and 76% on 7.2.
