Men’s Lacrosse Heads to No. 12 Army Saturday

It's been two years. Our offense up until 22 was often very good.

Seremet the OC needs to go. He has an offense that relies entirely on guys running by their guys and plays two guys in Kulas and Kelly who are just pure shooters at attack. It completely bogs down the offense even if that did work. We get no cutters, ball movement is awful, and guys just stand around and watch. It all makes us incredibly easy to guard. A team as savvy as Army on D will eat this for breakfast.

Worst part is our D is legit, we have guys in the middle of the field, and our faceoffs are strong.

This is how bad our offense is- we won every faceoff and are still down 6-1. If we had a pulse on offense we'd be winning this game.

It's not the players. There is simply no offensive scheme outside of fast breaks.
Yea exactly. Needed to be gone last year. No excuse. It’s not a talent issue it’s lack of scheme.

Neither Kelly nor Kulas can carry. Army is just waiting either to get the ball and then shutting off, which we make easy because we have no off ball movement. Both have been stripped one on one or dodged into double teams and then stripped multiple times. If we are inverting to have midfielders inbound the ball, it might be time to rethink the attack rotation.

Look how far out Army defense is playing our middies. Absolutely zero respect for this offense.

I feel bad for the defense. Because they are giving everything they’ve got and continuing to fight. Deserve better.
Fogos, DMids and Close deserve better. They are all really good.

It's shocking off bad this offense is. They play with no confidence and no system. It's like watching a summer league. I know these guys practice. I just have no idea what they do in practice.

Army is the best team I have ever seen at getting resets. They don't throw the ball in the corner when the shot clock is down. The bang it off the goal and and are really adept at it. It's an impressive strategy.

I was about to ask about that – – is a statistic kept on how often a team earns a clock reset?

Man they did it again. I've never seen a team able to do this. We worked them to low single digits many times this game but somehow they are constantly able to hit it off Stoller or a pipe. It's definitely a strategy.

3 goals, that’s an impressive offense.
Cali, it’s time to say why would any New Jersey or NY outstanding lax player want to play in this offense

Probably got 5-6 resets today with one second left? Just back breakers

12 of 15 face offs and 9 saves by the goalie should lead to a dismantling if there was a competent offensive strategy.

Is this true though? ‘22 was an anomaly. We had a near perfect attack with Scott coming into his own at X, Cameron at the lefty spot who had all around game as a dodger and finisher and Barolo as an absolute righty hammer. Excellent defense with Kirst dropping dimes on the outlets and one of the best DMid units in the nation. Offensive middie might have been a weakness but Jacoby turned out to be a monster portal acquisition and Knobloch took his game to the next level. Plus our Dmids were like 1b on offense as they could have started as offensive middies on most teams.

Prior to then we’ve always had talented offensive players but I recall that we struggled in 6 on 6 sets. But we were early innovators in committing to NASCAR offense (as well as plugging holes thru the portal) and that kept us competitive.

Now most teams run some version of NASCAR and are much better at defending it because they see it far more frequently. And everyone has caught up or surpassed us in portal recruiting. We have not adapted. We can no longer rely on transition goals and our settled offense is simply awful.

And I would argue that outside of 2022 it has been consistently bad but our transition offense was superior so it hid many flaws. We consistently have among the lowest shooting percentage in the country year in and year out. That speaks to the fact that we don’t run an offense that creates open looks. We simply rely on hero ball with 5 dudes standing around watching.

We’ve had some good offense dating back to the Jules and Bieda days.

We were playing much different preseason. We put up 18 against a Villanova team that just held #9 Yale to 9. Preseason but still. We were moving the ball and cutting. Today we did no e of that

Didn’t do it last week either?

Or the week before. We got a ton of goals in unsettled situations. We moved the ball well against Lehigh but didn't have the best shooting day.

We've been regressing since the first quarter of last game. They need to play with a young attack and live with the mistakes. They also need to give them confidence. Guys look scared to make mistakes instead of make plays which is what we've always had.

If I was advising Brian I'd say play the young guys, get back to more two man games and stop settling for outside shots and try to work the ball inside.
