Men's Basketball Mourns Kevin Black

One of my all-time favorite non-star players ... the very definition of a "glue" player ... played positions 1-4, whatever was needed ... very good defensive player ... very efficient offensively - often frustrated me my not shooting MORE. He was McConnell/Geo Baker years before those players were even born ... Salvi in re being a "glue" player - but a 4-year starter and WAY better a player.

He was fantastic and I really enjoyed his play as well. Very sad news.

My heart breaks a little every time a former Scarlet Knight passes. I have followed Rutgers basketball closely for half a century. A connection of some sort exists with all these players.

Black was the model of consistency and simply a joy to watch. He did his job game in and game out. A player anyone would be glad to call a teammate.

He wore number 20 immediately after James Bailey left the banks. Of course, no one has worn 20 since it was retired.

R.I.P. Kevin. Thanks for the memories.
