Men's Lacrosse Roster shuffle

Just heard another interesting roster ‘tidbit. Face off specialist Alex Schoen has been granted a sixth year of eligibility and will be suiting up for the Scarlet knights in 2019. This certainly helps an area that was going to be inexperienced next year and there may be even more help down the road.
Interesting.

Well multiple posters are dead wrong regarding D3 lacrosse.

Not exactly sure what your point is. However it clearly is as rigorous maybe more so inasmuch as many athletes take full loads. Ask the athletes at RIT, Tufts, denison, kenyon, wooster, ohio weselyn, gettysburg, williams, amherst, middlebury, weselyn, dickinson, haverford, washington & lee, franklin & marshall, oberlin, stevens, & so many more about the demands & rigors of their programs. As I have noted, I had son in D1 & a gandson in D3, & know many players from each level. If you & others want to persist in your beliefs, please do so. There is clearly nothing I can say to persuade or inform you.
Question - Similar travel demands and time spent in film sessions?

Well don't know who those kids were, but they weren't my grandson, his team mates or guys on all the D3 programs I know of & I know of a very great many. One of my sons played D1 lacrosse & his nephew D3. The demands & time requirements were the same to say the least. The D3 programs require it all & then some. I know this from first hand experience. I agreed that they couldn't compete on the field. This discussion was about the requirements & demands.
Without disparaging your understanding or your experience. I have had some experience with this my self as a long time coach who has sent many kids to play college lacrosse. While you are right that some D3 school have nearly the same rigorous schedule many do not and is at this divining point that most people are disagreeing IMO. There are no division 1 schools where lacrosse is not like a second job between the IV sessions, weight room mandatory study halls, meeting and Practices. But, I am certainly aware of D3 schools who do not reach that level of commitment. I know that OWU and Denison as well as schools like Whittenburg work very hard. But, I have sent players to other very good D3 schools who have admitted that the level of commitment is simply less. All of y’all are generalizing about 120 schools which is not helpful. I am sure that you are correct about your experience as much as I know that I am correct regarding mine.
Regardless, I believe that we are in for a really fun year with this team

What you are describing is Exactly what is required at all of the D3 schools I enumerated & many more- minus the tutors & plus carrying a full academic load. Don't doubt your word, but it is not my experience. Am looking forward to the year as well.

So now you are stating that you are an expert on the requirements of all D3 schools. Ok, I better tell my friends who are HC’s at D3 schools that, because I can guarantee you that they do not run their programs with the same level of commitment that D1 programs do. I am sorry that you do not understand that but it is simply fact. If you would stop using the word ALL we could simply agree, but as you insist on stating that you know the ins and outs of ever D3 program I will accept the fact that you don’t understand what I am talking about.

Well you certainly have demonstrated that you aren't an expert on D3 programs. And please don't misrepresent what I said. I said all the schools I had enumerated & many, many more. I didn't say all.

Get a clue dude he never said he was an expert in all D3 programs you said you were, which we all know you are not so just get over yourself. So you had a grandson play D3 lacrosse and he had to work hard congrats. Sounds like this Rufamily is some kind of coach so I might take his word over yours and by the way all athletes have to carry a full course load to be eligible to play so all the BS about having to carry a full course load is crazy because so do D1 kids.

Well you've certainly demonstrated that you don't know much on the subject.

Does not take much to know that you don’t know jack S*** about what you are talking about. You act like you are an expert because your grand son played. What a joke

I never said I was an expert you did. Why are you so hostile. There are 128 D3 teams your grandson experienced had one experience and I have seen another, like I said neither is right or wrong just different. Why don’t you go relax and have a drink.

No, I never said I was an expert, you incorrectly stated that I had. I far as i'm concerned we have a difference of opinion.

I almost want to explain why you lack the fundamental understanding of what is going on, but clearly you won’t listen. Oh and BTW, if you think the course work at OWU is as rigorous as thatat Rutgers you would be incorrect sir.

This thread is something :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I stepped away from it last week when I was told I was absolutely wrong. I think what we need to realize here and I think most do...is there is a middle ground... I think rufamily is probably pretty dialed in...

All I can say my son is a D1 lacrosse player and he's taking a full load academically and he's working very hard on the field...

I'm very excited about the year ahead...VERY

Thanks, I tried to stay out of this but when one guys says everyone else is wrong and speaks in these grand absolute’s I thought I would try and diffuse the situation. Guess I was wrong, oh well.
Looking forward to going do to watch practice soon.

I know for a fact that that the schools in that conference such as Kenyon, Oberlin, Wooster, & others are at least as demanding as Rutgers & probably more so. Why did you chose OWU as an example and leave out Tufts RIT, Williams, Amherst, Gettysburg, Haverford, Washington & Lee & all the other top flight top flight institutions with top flight programs that I had previously cited. Maybe it's you who lacks a fundamental understanding & needs some explaining.

There is no denying that the NESCAC schools are tough as are RIT, RPI and the others. Why did you essentially pick the hardest schools in D3? I noticed you did not include Salisbury in your list why is that? BTW, I have sent kids to almost every school you named and I know just how tough schools like Wesleyan, Tufts, Middlebury, Hamilton and Skidmore are academically. Why didn’t you include Mulhenberg, Montclair, Drew, FDU, Susquehanna, and Scranton? Could it be that you don’t know anyone there? Well I do, I have sent kids to those schools as well. But, you are right you know better.

How about we get back to lacrosse? Found out the our JC transfer is From Nassau and his name is Billy Kelly. He was the starter last year for the NCCC team that was runner up for the National JC championship, and was named to the All-Tourney team. Also named an academic All American. Welcome to the Banks

You're the one who cherry picked OSU & used it as an example. I countered with other schools that were very tough.

Because you included it your examples, I was simply pointing out a flaw in your argument.

First real run tomorrow. How is he feeling
All is good...loves the tempo, feels good about what's going on in the first few sessions last week...lots of talent on this team...he knows he has to earn his time...that's how it should be. I think he is transitioning in well...but I guess you never really know. Time will tell...

We're coming back out in two weeks...have to drop other guy of at Loyola for his OV...then we're gonna run up to hang out for 36 hours and check in. I'm looking forward to it...then I'll be back out for scrimmages

I know that my sources are really excited for this group. I also know that they have had several requests for walk on tryouts at least 6 kids had asked to tryout including kids that were D1 recruits and a couple of really good kids out of Jersey. Should be lots of competition out there.

I’ll say you are an expert since you won’t. Fam has access to and has seen more from different programs than everyone on this board combined.

RUDad is embarrassing himself at this point.

Is that so? Why don't one of you tell me just what it is that is required of guys at D1 programs that is not required of guys at many, many, many D3 programs.

How’s that? He’s a successful high school coach and has been affiliated with the best high school in NJ for 30 years. They’ve sent countless kids to d1 and d3 colleges.

How many have you sent? Sounds like 2.

Very much depends on the D3. There are probably 3-4 programs in D3 that are run with expectations of D1, though I am not even sure they really are. Some D3's are basically club teams. In fact, most of them are.
Your original comment above regarding most D3 programs being basically club teams demonstrates how ignorant you are on the subject &, in essence, disqualifies you from any serious consideration in this discussion. No one should be surprised, however, as you always know it all even when you know nothing.

You are free to your opinion. I can promise you I've been closer to the game and have known far more D3 and D1 guys than you ever will x 10.

You can choose not to listen to subject matter experts, of which there are more than a few here providing you information. That's your prerogative.

Check with family, whose opinion you rightfully value, & see if he believes that the myriad quality D3 programs are basically club teams. If you know so much about D3 lax programs you ought to start showing it, rather than continually broadcasting your ignorance on the subject.

NOt sure of the exact dates, but mid-later October. I believe both scrimmages are home. Navy/Umass.

I think it might be Oct 13, but that's not confirmed...if I hear an official confirmation I will share...and trust me I'll be asking someone for a date every few days so I can book my travel to come watch....so I hope to know soon
