mens soccer just lost to Canisius

Donigan has to go point blank. Even AreYouNuts, his biggest supporter at this point probably can't even sanely defend him anymore. Get a stud coach and RU Men's Soccer can be a perennial tourney team within 2-3 years.

Fire him. Our men's soccer program is a disgrace.

Anything less than firing DD will be a failure by Hobbs (and he hardly ever fails).

Apparently you've done a very poor job of reading exactly what I've stated re: DD over the past year or so. That being said, thanks for the shout out, much appreciated.

P.S. - awful loss

As I've said before I love what Hobbs has done but he really has messed up on men's soccer and womens lacrosse both of those coaches should have been gone and we could in both sports be perennial powers within 2-3 years just recruiting NJ and good coaching!!

Take this from an outside perspective for Hobbs...he had to hire both football and basketball last year. Two sports that required a TON of money and time to turn around properly.

You allow the Women's LAX and Men's Soccer coach another year, tell them 'show me some improvement,' while not having to buy out their contract and costing the University more money.

Think about the negative press that would be associated with RU had they hired 4+ head coaches in a calendar year, two of them being extremely expensive. As you state, this turnaround could be MUCH quicker with the right people and recruits in place.

This is all conjecture, but I could definitely see it being a reason why.

Let's also see what happens with Women's Volleyball.

Hobbs was thrown into a fire pit his first day.

You can't change everything all at the same time. The highest profile sports at the school all needed serious attention. New football coach after a scandal, a new basketball coach after massive failure, and the legendary women's coach on the downside of her career that needed extra care around her contract. Throw that in with a very ambitious fundraising/facility build, along with every single other sport needing serious attention, and you can see why he made the decision to leave soccer alone at that time. There is only so much that can be done in the almost immediate. I can't think of one AD that has had to put out so many fires of magnitude the first day they started.

I guarantee you that unless there is a turn around, Hobbs will not make that same decision again. Soccer is a tier 1 sport at Rutgers. He wants to win big there. Whether we do or not, it won't be for lack of attention.

My Lord he has been here less than 2 years. Give it a rest.

DD had no buyout & was making ~$130,000. It was an easy move to make & wasn't. Hobbs has done great here so far but he missed on this.

Firing someone is easy. Finding the replacement is the hard part.

That takes time to identify the right candidates, potentially recruit them, and interview.

If it was that easy, he would have done it. As it is, it will get done. The right way.

If you have ever spoken to Hobbs, he isn't a thoughtless man. He will handle it appropriately, and to do so, takes time. As does all of the other thing he's done.

Can't do it all immediately.

I can almost guarantee you the next manager of Mens soccer will make more than what donnigan is and that may be why he is still around. The median salary for D1 is 156,000. We will need about 175,000 - 200,000 to lure a top manager here

Brecht deserves every penny. I think 3rd time is a charm and RU Lax finally makes the tourney.

They have been deserving the last two years. I think they get it done this year. And I don't think they will just be happy to be there either.

Would have been nice to have gotten some tourney experience over the last two seasons, but these kids have played in a lot of big games.
