Just thought that this was interesting, not what one would suspect given the final score.

Then the wheels fell off. A lot of pressure on this defense, when the offense goes 3 and out in a matter of seconds over and over again, especially with depth issues.

Same scenario against Ohio State. Defense looked good for a quarter, maybe a little longer, but realistically if they're always on the field eventually bad things start to happen.

This is not to absolve the defense from poor play. They simply could not stop the run yesterday for more than the first 5-6 minutes and it's the most humiliating way to lose.

Yeah, the Defense showed up to play early and they did. But umteen 3 and outs on Offense will gas that Defense Quickly especially when we have no depth. Laviano missed Harris deep for a touchdown in the 1st quarter. You needed that 7 there just for elevating confidence.

When the offense can't do anything and the defense is on the field all game..thus happens.

And if Laviano hits that opening pass for a TD (it was there), maybe we only lose 78-7. Seriously, though, football is a big emotional/momentum game and if he had hit that pass or if we could've gotten points after the fumble, the game would've been more competitive (like maybe 49-10 - no way they don't still rout us). Amazing how good the defense looked for a few series.

This was the fear I had when everyone was screaming for a new, fast tempo, spread it out offense. If we could not move the ball we would put our defense in A LOT of bad spots.

I think there was a direct correlation to the rain stopping and then the Michigan O hitting stride.
