Minnesota-UCLA a disastrous result if you want RU in the Big Ten tournament

UCLA up 19 at home and ends up losing in the final seconds. RU now a full game behind Minnesota and hanging onto 15th for dear life.

A loss tonight drops RU out of the top 15 and no longer in control of its own destiny. Give Minnesota credit - they were dead and buried. Got themselves to 6 wins and are still playing hard and trying to make something out of their season.

And as a bonus, Mick Cronin had another great postgame rant.

The derision shown to RU for not making the NCAA tourney despite two draft picks is one thing. However, the amount bad press for not even making the B1G conference tournament will be unimaginable, and rightfully so.

some coaches have their teams playing harder and better end of seasons, some do not. To me that is one of the biggest characteristics of a quality coach.

I don't think anyone expects a miraculous run, but the fun of being a fan is to keep hope alive by extending the season to see if it can actually happen.

Anyone who hopes the season ends as quickly as possible is as big a quitter as the players and coaches they're endlessly complaining about.

No, I'm not a quitter. I'm a realist. There is just so much abuse of my psyche I can take. Goodness knows there's enough of that going around now. I've watched every game, and will watch as much of tonights game as possible. I kept hoping for a run. But the signs just ain't there. So if you want to think of me as a quitter, that's your prerogative. I'm just a down trodden RU fan that has had enough of this season.
