MLAX Loses Recruit to Iowa St. Football

We lost a recruit to Iowa St. football, lol.

This isn't the first time. We lost another RU MLAX commit to Michigan football this year.

Tells you the type of athletes Coach Brecht is going after.

Different sport. Most kids just want to play one sport over another. It's not like we lost him to a rival. The fact we flipped him in the first place is a good sign.

It happens...friend of ours kid played wth my younger son on our summer club team...he's a 2019.

He had multiple lax offers and could have played big time lacrosse...he's playing football at Mich State. If it's what you love, can't blame him...and yes, full ride vs partial...that's a big deal (to me anyway)

A little off topic...The 2019 LSM from Michigan (Rice / Juiced Cherries) that's coming to Rutgers next year also played with us...he's a very talented kid...gifted athlete and a warrior of a competitor...you never know as they make the transition, but I think we will like him. (Even though he plays for our arch rival in the HS season)

Well we didn't want that kid anyway if he's gonna choose Michigan...

And I'm really not kidding...

Think encouraging athletes to play 2 sports (football and another) might be a difference in recruiting ... was always a fan of football/track combo.

Whenever I get asked, which isn't much, I always encourage kids to play as many sports as possible, even if lacrosse is their main one.

Basketball, football, hockey, soccer, they all help each other in some way or another. And help lacrosse.

The kid is Ronnie Hickmann and he is a commit to OSU, not that, that is any better. The kid is an animal athletically and was thinking of coming here to play both. he was not quite as gifted a lacrosse player as he was a football player so that may have helped sway him. He is one of the top couple of football players in the state this year. I am happy for Mr. Penn and I hope he has an awesome time and experience at ISU. I am sure that Coach Brecht is already on the phone trying to replace him

Sorry, meant OSU.

Good luck to Penn. Always good to see kids follow their dreams. I am sure Brian and staff will find some adequate.
