Monangai scored on that play right?

Schiano has no problem taking a timeout fresh out of halftime on a meaningless play. But doesn’t want to use one on a scoring play?

Ridiculous!
This
Was a TD.
2.0 was asleep most of the game on the sideline. Should have called a TO and asked for a Review.

You can watch it frame by frame by pausing the video, and then pressing the period key to advance one frame. KM's right shin does look to have touched the ground.
Watching it frame by frame, KM's butt doesn't hit the ground until after the ball is across the goal line. Looks like a TD.

I despise shotgun formation close to the goal line. Teams love doing it. It’s idiotic
That usually boils down to the “it’s who we are” kind of thing, similar to killing clock for an up tempo team.

Once you get out of your usual game play mode, the feel is the chance for mistakes can go up…..like taking shotgun snaps all the time and then going under center and the snap gets fumbled.

Couldn’t tell you if that’s actually true or not but I think that’s the reasoning.

I disagree where the ball was marked, the line judge marked it with the initial foot drag as down. To me the shin wasn't down until the ball was at about the 2" line. Hind sight is 20 20, but it sure seemed like if they ran it again 4 more times or however amount of tries we got, we would have gotten a TD. They did a tush push to get a first down at one point.

I thought it was a TD in real time and also after review. B10 owes RU and explanation on why it was not reviewed and why the line judge with the obstructed view makes the call instead of the one with the clear view.

It was reviewed.

I was wondering why the line judge marked the ball so far back on Monangai's run, and not at the 3" line. I think the judge got confused with the pile of bodies and thought #69 was the ball carrier.

The same line judge also got the spot wrong on the 2nd run. Forward progress got past the blue line.

You're looking at the wrong part of his body. It's the ankle/shin that is in question.

I rewatched the broadcast footage on slo-mo and it's very close but hard to tell for sure. Unfortunately he was just short of the line at that point.

You’re right. And he was definitely in.

But also insane we couldn’t score from that spot on SEVEN attempts. SEVEN.
I think that's why GS and head coaches in-general don't fight too hard in cases like that.. they figure they will score anyway. Lesson learned, I hope. Then again, being on the field, how does GS know KM was really in? Its not like the scoreboard operator is going to put the best angle up on the big screen highlighting it as a score. I only hope if it happens vs Wisky that our video guy would be on top of it.

The call on the field was that he wasn’t in. Greg knew that odds were against them finding irrefutable evidence to overturn that with all those bodies on top of eachother. He had a fresh set of downs and less than a yard to the goal line so he figured play on.

Normally as a fan I’d be furious about that goal line stand and our failure to execute for a yard. However, I do believe on any other day we would get in - forget the wind impact on pass game - Athan’s speed was very much impacted by that brace in every facet of his game. This can’t be understated. The only type of play call not directly impacted was a hand off to an RB but Nebraska was playing to prevent that after our second drive. They saw that 1) Athan wasn’t a threat to take off for more than a few yards even with wide open space. That option on the RPO was an obvious no go 2) it didn’t take much to be a threat with pressure on a potential pass play because AK couldn’t scramble. Some said we should’ve thrown a back up out there but I’m not seeing that either cold turkey in a hostile environment. It is what it is.

exactly... same fker.. bias? I think so. Supported by replay booth in both cases.. not reviewing the TD and then allowing the wrong spot to STAND.

There should’ve been more of a review but with all those bodies there the ruling on the field would likely stand whichever way it went to be honest. It was just a bad break for us. It happens.

We need to shake it off and bounce back. Hopefully just some inflammation with AK’s knee and it’s gone down by the Wisky game. Felter is a big loss but I do think Kirk will figure out a reasonable adjustment plan. We have more depth than we used to and some possible mix and match options on the line for them to play around with to find the next best combo.

Inexcusable

We should’ve gotten in. I agree. But there were a lot of unique factors in this game contributing to why it was a challenge for us to pick up rush yards after the second series - especially in tight space.

Nice try everything's a conspiracy man. Has nothing to do with bend, he was falling towards the end zone sideways. Ankle/shin are naturally going to be down first based on how he fell.
