MSG allows umbrellas. The RAC, for no good reason, does not.

Nice free-for-all of stolen umbrellas after the game tonight. Terrible policy to not allow them in. You can have cold, driving rain walking in and out from those parking lots, and no umbrellas allowed. And to boot, the policy is not even an industry standard among arenas.

Rutgers every changing rules are something hard to keep up on..should have been to the first football game this year...but this one has been a stadium/RAC policy forever. Sorry you weren't aware.

I did think the policy was no umbrellas, but my father convinced me to try it. The point is not that we guessed wrong on the policy, it's that it's a terrible policy.

They aren't allowed at any NU venues either.

Maybe schools are more afraid of liability than pro arenas. But, it's ridiculous. A quick google search shows tons of arenas that allow them, or at least compact ones.

Nebraska's new policy is the small clear bag policy for all venue's now. It was just football but now it is for all.

Instead of guessing why wouldn't you just go to ScarletKnights.com and look it up?
I never would've even considered that an umbrella wasn't allowed inside a basketball arena. Why would anyone think to look something like that up? And if they're allowed in Madison Square Garden in New York City then it makes no sense that they aren't allowed in a college gym in Piscataway, NJ.

The whole thing is beyond stupid. There are no metal detectors, and they do not pat people down. I could walk in strapped with C4 and carrying any weapon imaginable. But no umbrellas. Lol

there's a long list there....
Water bottles in the stadium anyone?

I've alerted the NSA: they'll be waiting for you at the next game you attend.

Wet umbrellas = wet floors = wet stairs = people slipping = people calling lawyers= settlements = cost of doing business going up = higher ticket prices = less people coming to games who need umbrellas.

Don't forget the Umbrella fighting in the stands

good, tired of people opening them in front of me while trying to watch the bball games.
..and also so glad I can no longer have to deal with all the people begging my to throw them candy at the football games after we score. (then again....not sure if worth even bringing anyway).

since we are complaining....I need to call out very rude Rutgers fans...so I hitched a ride with my brother and my mom who is 82 and has trouble walking and moving quick...well anyone we got there plenty earlier like 10 minutes before they open the gates but to watch the lack of consideration of other people when the doors open they pile in from the sides cutting in line, cutting in front of us not to mention those around us rudely pushing through. You would think people have some consideration for older people but did not see that last night, people oblivious

When my Dad still went to the games with us my friend and I used to give him a halo and moved anybody who got too close as we headed upstairs...not like like pushing them away but by putting ourselves in the way so they would have to move around him.

We do it now for other older fans (even visiting ones) who have a tough time going up the ramps to the upper deck. Most of the time they and their families don't even realize were doing it.
