Mullin to be st johns new head coach per nydaily news

If Mullin wears his "GM" hat to his current role at SJU AND he has a burning desire to succeed it will work. He needs to go in to this embracing the fact that he has never coached and rely heavily on his assistants. He can't go in thinking I am HOF player and successful GM and am great at what ever I do, of course I'll be a great coach.

I believe that will be Jordan's downfall.

Saintpuppy-Look at the NBA though Kidd (BK) and Kerr haven't done so bad having no coaching experience. I think College is so much about recruiting and EJ is proving that he is struggling in that regard. This area is still a hotbed for talent (maybe not as much as it used to be) but I don't think EJ has anwhere near the juice that Mullin will have. Yes, a great assistant could do wonders - but where is he?

Two totally different situations and leagues. Golden state doesn't even need a coach. They have players that want badly to succeed. Level headed guys. College and NBA are two different to compare.

We have to focus on bringing in players that want to improve when the lights aren't on. Players that are smart, too. A minland should be our prime example in this case. Loves the game, smart, no ego.

With much of the same roster, Golden State has drastically improved from last year to this year. Mark Jackson was a good coach. Steve Kerr is better.

That's true. 51-31 last year and 61-13 now.

Still, hard to compare NBA coaches to NCAA.
