My impressions of the RU vs Iowa match

I truly believed that RL himself and the staff believe he would contend, if not, would win a national title this year..... hate to think that they expected to lose to kem if this is a mindset of a champion .. maybe believed more better shot to beat Marinelli then Kem..
The Iowa heavyweight wouldn't go out against the Maryland heavyweight on Sunday. Both top ten ranked. Great way to build fan interest in the sport Tom! $$$$
In the Lehigh - Drexel match, Lehigh's #2 Scott Parker skipped the match against Freshman phenom Austin DeSanto at 133, and at 184 Lehigh's #4 Ryan Preisch didn't wrestle Owen Brooks , although imo that match Parker probably Majors Brooks.
I'm sure the fans were VERY DISAPPOINTED not to see Parker vs DeSanto, especially after DeSanto destroyed Mcicic of Michigan. DeSanto also beat Iowa's Spencer Lee in last years Penn State Tourny.
It goes on and on with coaches protecting seedings at the detriment of building up the sport.
I'm nothing close to a Brands fan, but watching Stoll on the mat at half-time on Friday, I'm surprised he's taking the mat in any match, let alone one in which his match has no bearing on the dual result. He had a very pronounced limp and an obviously injured knee. I wouldn't be suprised to see Stoll skipping a lot of bouts this year. He looks like he's wrestling on borrowed time. I will say that nothing is preventing Brands from weighing in two 197s or two 285s and sending a backup out there.
Lehigh wrestled Penn earlier in the day and Preisch was injured in that match.
Just so All are happy, RL will be at 165 the rest of the year and JVB at 157.
We will have 15 wrestlers at Midlands. All starters plus 5 others from Mackall, Lipari, Santos, Pagano, Messner and Correnti.
Would love to see Correnti at 285 at The Midlands. Seeing him sitting matside at the Iowa match, it looks like Correnti is already noticeable bigger than last spring. Bill, what would you guess Correnti's weight now?

Not sure what his weight goal is... 25 pounds of muscle in 9 month is impressive...

Iowa is an inexperienced, young team with hammers sitting on the bench and drug Maryland by 34 in front of a crowd of about 500...most of which were Hawk fans. I think you should be questioning what McCoy is doing for the sport in Maryland.
Ugh, last year at Midlands Ashnault's cheap antics (or what he calls "mobbing") cost him a match. If he and I wrestled, and I made it through the first period and he did that cheap shot to me, I'd have cold cocked him then and there. I was hoping to forget that bit of his youthful indiscretion. Thanks for the reminder.
