I admit that years ago, in the early Schiano days when we were really bad, I would occasionally take my block R off my car after an embarrassing loss. Getting blown out in lop-sided games back then shook my resolve and I was embarrassed to show my R on a few occasions.

Fast forward to the Mike Rice and TP scandal and I protested my support of Rutgers by either turning the R upside down or ripping off part of the R to make it a block P. I was embarrassed over my University then, too.

Today, my block R is firmly in place and will not come off...ever. Yes, I've put up with lots of crap at work these past few weeks but my support of Rutgers football has not wavered. The difference now is that we are part of the Big Ten (where we belong) and I know we will eventually come out from under this ugly mess.

Go RU!

I'm only embarrassed that my block R cracks and peels after a month in the sun and rain.

I continue to support the team no matter who the coach is. I support the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, not the Floods, Schianos, or Sheas.

Then again as I've been told a couple of times recently what I think doesn't matter because I'm not an alum.

I support no one at Rutgers from the top to the bottom... after carefully analyzing all that has happened here and around the country ...especially at Rutgers... our coaches , staff , admins and yes even players don't deserve support...I can't believe more players ( not only happening at RU) on the team weren't aware of something going on amongst their brothers?...FAMILY == B.S.... and so, after 41 years, I'm done with being a donor , ticket purchaser in multi sports... and a Loyal Son save your $$$$ ...it's only getting worse in high school , college and pros...it is like a insiduous disease going up the scale...support academics and the regular everyday students ...If a guy like Caroo ( who I still have doubts did what they claim) can't control himself...if our head man ( Kyle Flood ) can't control himself...then it's time to end the ride... I already notified Rutgers I will not be re upping for 2016 and beyond...It's just too much angst and heartache...Time to play more golf...

You sound like you need a mental health break from sports for a while.

Then make a decision with a clear mind.

Here's my take. I too am not an alum. BUT I have been an RU supporter for ever. I support the Football Team.I could not care a fig for RU as the school. Good, bad or indifferent.

I didn't know there were block R's back in the early Schiano days. You couldn't even buy apparel in sporting good stores until the 2006 year and after. Anyway, i'm a big fan of the RU football program and these last few weeks have been embarrassing and frustrating to say the least. However, I still wear my RU gear when i'm outside. As for work...I tend to be low key and people know I'm an alum and follow football closely however, I don't do any bravado stuff..so people have been more sympathetic than busting chops. I'll continue to support the team, however, I think they need to implement some major changes.

All I remember is that we had block Rs when we had some pretty bad losses.

As far as major changes go I'm curious what you would start with...

I went to Rutgers. I am proud to have graduated from Rutgers. I love Rutgers.

Nothing that happens on a football field, or off the field with a football team, is going to change that.

I don't wear scarlet because we won a game, or signed a recruit, or got invited to a real conference. I wear scarlet because Rutgers University is much of a home to me as the city of my birth, the township I grew up in, or the city in which I currently reside.

None of which means I will not criticize employees and other representatives of the university. In fact, it means I am MORE likely to do so, as I get angry when the Rutgers name is dragged through the mud or tarnished in even a minor way. I've been that way since I was a student, and I'm not going to change now.

That R flag flies high because I'm proud of Rutgers, not because we were 8-5 last year. You'll have to rip that scarlet R out of my cold, dead hand.

Any alum who stops supporting RU because of the happenings over the past few weeks needs to step off the ledge. I am a RU Alum and the whole entity matters to me...football and all!

RUBOB,
Enjoy the links. I am going to root for SOME college team. Rutgers is MY team. Do I condone some of the proven and alleged acts performed recently by those associated with the football team? Absolutely not! But I will root for those coaches and players who continue to represent Rutgers.
