First of all...The overreaction on this board is comical. Bad loss, yes. Absolutely. But stop acting like the sky is falling. People get way too ahead of themselves. Someone started a thread saying this was "the most inexplicable loss they've ever seen". To me, that means they've been a fan since 2017.

Here are my thoughts on the game.

1. Left far too many points at the line. I hate to single out one player in a loss but Eugene was absolutely brutal. Missing 6 of 9 including the front end of a 1 and 1 is brutal.

2. Pikiell/Staff did not adjust well to the zone. The bigs were really cheating up high in a 1-3-1 and we did not have movement on the baseline to break it down and get easy buckets. Corey and Geo were throwing lollipop passes to eachother for the first 10 seconds of the clock several times down the floor. We got into our sets late and really struggled to score in the halfcourt.

3. The last inbounds play was inexcusable and that is also on the staff. You have 1.8 seconds and instead of trying to throw the ball downcourt (even if forced), you opted for a heave from three quarters court. That is totally unacceptable. Pike should have to answer for that.

All in all, the loss was tough. It hurts.

I feel like many people just see Hartford and think we should blow them out but they had a good team. That kid number five was terrific. Tall, good handle, great range, and really hurt us.

We will bounce back and make noise in conference play. This team is much improved but by no means are we at the level where we are immune to losses to less talented teams.

Stony Brook is bad and Hartford is awful. No sugarcoating these pathetic loses. Same old RU.

No sugarcoating is right. All the good that the win over SHU did is gone. This turd is halfway down the shitter and I'm almost ready to flush the rest down, RIP RU basketball 17/18

We were outshot and outcoached. Period. This is a below average team that will struggle to hit.500. They should spend a 2 hour practice shooting FT and nothing else. A CYO team shoots better than them. Everyone knows Corey will try the last shot so call a play for someone else. That is coaching and attacking their zone was atrocious

only coat of sugar that can be put on this mess : RU is 10-6 after this loss.
But the lemon feeling RU fans feel right now because of losing to SB and Hartford can't be sweetened by that sugar.
I'll take the high road and say RU fans shouldn't expect
too much from this team, but expect Pikiell to be building for RU MBB being good in a couple more years.
This is year two and that's too soon to give up on Pikiell .

One thing we can always count on too is for someone to say we shouldn't be upset with bad losses to teams from far inferior leagues and that we will somehow "make noise" in conference play whatever the hell that means. We've been on this cycle of an occasional nice win followed by horsebleep basketball and bad losses for close to 30 years. People who want to BELIEVE we are on the right track have a right to be upset with losses like this especially when we just had a bad loss. We don't have enough talent to overcome a Geo Baker 35 minute-2 point game or another Deshawn Freeman 4-13 debacle or a Corey Sanders "disciplinary benching". That is painfully obvious when you see the options are guys like Souf Mensah and Candido Sa who literally provide no production. The roster needs a serious upgrade and using scholarships on guys like Mensah, Bullock, or projects that don't see the floor is not going to get it done if we're going to see efforts (on court and on the bench) like tonight.

This is just another season with too many complementary type players and no consistent go to scorers. How do you expect to win even against Hartford when Baker scored only 2 points and there is no offensive production from the center position? The woeful foul shooting is beyond belief at the RAC especially when Stony Brook and Hartford had higher shooting percentages .

you got that straight, always count on wild expectations from RU fans, we all are guilty of getting caught up in it. Reality is that until Pike has some serious roster turnover, we are not going anywhere...our players simply are not good. Its clear that Doucoure is not ready to replace Getty just yet. We have a couple who would start, the rest are very young..some better on the bench. No real stars, no real leadership, and no go to player....next year we get more of Pikes players in and more of Jordans out. It will help but its going to take until Pke's maybe 5th year to actually make a serious run at the dance. Baker is a start. Next years class is promising but he needs to land another big class in 2019

Don't think there is over reaction after tonight's loss. It was inexcusable and a sad showing all around.

With that said I do think this is a team that plays both up and down to competition so I don't think we should be writing the season off.

This team is limited but they will hang with some more talented teams in conference play.

Sadly, the lame excuses never end and neither does the embarrassing losses at home.It all comes back to the lack of talent and the limitations on coaching players to over achieve when they lack the skillset to even make foul shots or layups.
