Last 6 games against some really good big men
- Nebraska 31 minutes 2 fouls
- Iowa 27 minutes 3 fouls
- Minn 30 minutes 3 fouls
- Indiana 26 minutes 2 fouls
- Illinois 13 minutes 4 fouls
- Penn st 31 minutes 1 foul

Either MJ is figuring out how to play without fouling or he is starting to get more respect. (or some of both)

He has definitely limited his swipes. Goes straight up for the most part and isn’t late on his switches. His defense has been superb outside Garza who on that day no man on earth could stop

He was getting in trouble moving during though high screen, now he is more comfortable with that pick. I'm still don't like him covering above the key for that two-man defensive move. He needs to be protected in the post.

It's the type of fouls. Setting ill advised strings or trying to fight through the high screen. Way too valuable for those silly fouls.

Garza did not score in the last 11 minutes of the game and was pretty much denied the ball due mainly to Myles and interior defense. So while the first half was a Garza scoring fest against the rotation of Myles, Carter (and I think even Duke was in for a spell)......Myles was able to shut him down in crunch time.

Once a narrative (perception) is set, it's difficult to rewrite it or change people's minds like fans. The refs have changed and they are not calling so many on Johnson as they did in the early part of the season. Yet, "our fans" continue to promote this idea as if it's still a fact. :ThumbsDown

It's almost as if people don't watch the games when they watch the games.

Sometimes the blame goes to the guy with the ball. Guys need to wait until the screener is set. I don't recall the game(s), but this has definitely happened a few times, and cost us a couple fouls on Myles.

Myles does a good job around the rim staying straight up on ball defense and when people come at him. He just picks up some frustrating fouls. Save them all for protecting the rim or making a strong move to the hoop. The reach in and moving screens 30 feet out make coaches want to cry. He's been getting better and better at playing without fouling. We need him on the court against Purdue

But the point is he is really developing and improving on these frustrating points. I have no doubt that he was filmed and coached up on last week's unnecessary fouls and will stay away from them in the future.

I agree Myles has gotten better setting the screen, an area where he needed to improve. And our guards/wings have gotten better at allowing him to set the screen properly.

However, as it relates to defensively against the screen and roll, I very much disagree. Saw a stat the other day that Rutgers is the best team in the country at defending the high screen and roll. We need Myles to keep doing what he is doing on the defensive end against the screen and roll (imo).

Actually the above is not bad. Other than the Illinois game where he committed 3 bad fouls, fouls haven't been an issue.
