That was mine (never got the credit he deserved), I’ll go Darius Griffin or Damon Santiago.Kelvin Troy
One of the best players in RU historyKeith Hughes
Caleb was huge in pretty much every game he played in, at least when he was healthy. His defense was so good that he'd largely shut down whomever he was marking while also simultaneously disrupting the play of everybody else on the other team. It was, at times, mind-blowing to watch.
We'd have these games where Caleb would seem kinda quiet, he'd fade a bit into the background until he made a steal or a block. But those were actually some of his best games 'cause he would just clamp down so hard on his guy that both he and the guy he's marking (often the other team's best player) would disappear for long stretches.
I think he was at least as impactful to last year's team as any other RUMBB player I've seen was to their team. But because he was a defensive specialist, and not a big scorer, people would regularly overlook him.
I think he's considered a superstar for purposes of this discussion. My contribution is Rashod KentQuincy Douby
After every game and in fact during games, Adrian Hill would wobble like he just ended a 15 round heavyweight fight.Adrian Hill!
What? We're talking about glue guys not superstars per the OP....he was that on the '89 team. Convince me I'm wrong (I'm not being a wiseass...)Come on man.
^^^^ My bad on this...I didnt see the OP mention non stars.Keith Hughes
By the time I got to your message i had gone off topic. Yes, Rick Dadika was more important to the program than Mag.What? We're talking about glue guys not superstars per the OP....he was that on the '89 team. Convince me I'm wrong (I'm not being a wiseass...)
That's OK. He is often overlooked, but not forgotten by those who had the privilege of watching him play^^^^ My bad on this...I didnt see the OP mention non stars.
I don’t mean Superstars, I mean lunch pail guy think lifts the players around him. Mag truly is special. I know there were others but wow last night just shows how important he is to this program.
Loved Dadika. Hard worker, spot on shooter and very solid FT shooter.By the time I got to your message i had gone off topic. Yes, Rick Dadika was more important to the program than Mag.
You can say that again! And RIP to Keith who carried the Knights to an A10 title and into the NCAAs.That's OK. He is often overlooked, but not forgotten by those who had the privilege of watching him play
Geo could win games on his own. To me he was a superstar. Looking for a player that elevated the team around him that alone was not a superstarCan we say Geo?
Mr. Clutch. He shot us into the tournament in 2020 . Then Covid reared its ugly headGeo could win games on his own. To me he was a superstar. Looking for a player that elevated the team around him that alone was not a superstar
Jack Penhall.Geo could win games on his own. To me he was a superstar. Looking for a player that elevated the team around him that alone was not a superstar
Lots of good suggestions here. This was the one I was thinking.Marquis Webb
Webb was the best defender on that team (similar to Mag). Great guard but never got the spotlight that Douby, Herve or even Shields got on those very good Waters teams.Lots of good suggestions here. This was the one I was thinking.
I remember someone on this board saying Hill's offensive game resembled a man falling out of a tree, which always cracked me up because he did tend to fall to the floor on every layup and dunk attrmpt. After every game and in fact during games, Adrian Hill would wobble like he just ended a 15 round heavyweight fight.
What a warrior!
