just released standings. NC beats ND and shoots 11 spots? RU at #12.

Need an excuse to bounce RU ... but seriously, Top 12 should get in ... just want RU to take care of business and win a few.

That's a joke. They have 7 LOSES!!!! Should be outside the top 10.
Pretty narrow focus and knowledge for a lot of polls in secondary sports. By the end of the season, they start to closely mimic NCAA selection process. RPI is the measuring stick in lacrosse. Despite record, UNC has a high RPI and will make the tournament, so people start voting them higher

? That would put them in the final four. While possible, that isn't exactly a fair bar to judge them by.

Making the tournament losing 3 of your best players before the season starts is a monumental accomplishment. Brian was coach of the year last year, but if they make the tournament, he did an even better job this season, amazingly.

To be fair they also beat #1 Cuse 2 days earlier as well.

And number 4 ND. While ND is completely banged up, they still took care of biz. Gotta tip your cap to that. They played a tough schedule. Let's see how it shakes out, but if a team like Albany doesn't win their AQ, I would say Unc very much deserves to be in over them, as do we. They haven't beaten anyone of real note right now, and lost the two upper echelon games they played.

Latest bracketology has RU playing Denver at the 4-13 game. Winner would play the winner of the OSU-Loyola game. Tough sledding but would be incredible experience for the team. Next year is the year RU Lax makes a move to be a legit FF contender on paper. But who knows? Get in and anything can happen.

For sure. As we have seen this year, anyone can beat anyone.

Yea, next year too is definitely intriguing. Fry this fish first though.

I haven't seen Loyola play since earlier in the year, but I can't see OSU losing that game if it comes to fruition. OSU is going to be a tough out. They play that methodical, odd style. They must have a lot of kids from Canada because they look very one handed centric and play a box type game outdoors. Their fogo is really good and their goal tending is solid. That translates well.

Beating them was a huge scalp for us. And if anyone was questioning whether they rested their starters against us, they didn't. They absolutely played the game to win it. Just got beat by the better team that day. Really was an instant classic.

If we found a goal in one of the OT possessions vs Maryland, chances are we are talking about hosting Yale or Towson in the first round of the tourney right now. The Top 10 teams are all razor thin as far as difference in skill or talent. The tourney is a crapshoot...anyone can win it with the possible exception of the SoCal or MAAC champion.

Very good win and very clutch under circumstances. But OSU is a pretty clear #4 in BIG, which is still impressive. If things unfold the right way, RU will get in and can beat anyone or be one and done. Very tight field.

WCICCI, I have a very good understanding of how the system works. UNC has played a tough schedule, no doubt. However, switch us with them (same schedule / record), and we aren't getting a sniff at the tourney. As others have mentioned, there is great parity in lacrosse this year where any team can win on any day. That being the said, other teams are more deserving than UNC to get in but we all know they are a lock. Very sad in my opinion.

There is definitely an old boy network as it relates to the at larges in lacrosse. We are getting close to busting that door down though. The RU snowball is rolling. We are winning, we are in a very powerful conference with powerful leadership, our team is on tv almost every weekend, and it all adds up to being one of the haves. Last straw is some success in the tourney.

I definitely wouldn't agree with OSU being the number 4 team right now. If I am picking teams in the tournament, I would rank them:

Maryland
OSU
Penn St.
Hopkins

Out of all the teams playing this weekend, Hopkins to me has the most to prove.

Agreed on Hopkins. Tiebreaker hurt Penn St. I think they probably play MD for title as 3 seed. Although game was at Penn St, I have a hard time putting OSU ahead of them. Second half was a beat down. All 4 are in, and likely RU. Great season for BIG lax.

Foads, I think selection is pretty much based on RPI, which isn't subjective. UNC had a high RPI before ACC tournament. I was just saying that voters tend mirror selection criteria as season winds down, whether it's BCS or Pairwise or RPI.
