Nc state vs Rutgers!

Man this reminds me of when we had our prize recruit, Aragona, getting mangled by PSU, and that pretty much wrecked his confidence going forward… ugh
That's not what happened with Aragona. He was a terrible wrestler. While extremely athletic he had no wrestling skills and got totally exposed in college

Y do u think he will? Bc he beat Turley, which may be a room thing, and bc Turley thinks he will be National champion?
So far, just from what I read, which is all I have to go on. He has beaten the guys in the room, was a highly rated recruit, and lesser guys on the roster have qualified. Revisit this in a few months. If he is what he is supposed to be, he'll internalize that loss and work to up his game.

We aren’t going to win any big duals when Peterson, Turley, and Soldano all lose. One of those guys need to find a way to come up clutch in big/meaningful situations.

More of the same unfortunately.

We'll continue to win against the Princeton's of the world, but I wouldn't be looking for any upsets this season. It'll just be more of the same in the B1G dual season.

Another flop by Rutgers in a big match. Typical..
Yeah, I kinda bought into the hype of “our best team ever” and the Goodale speech of our team needing to change or we expect the same results…but yeah… seems not much change.. big match loss.. I don’t expect much to change when we face VT.. hope I’m wrong but it is what it is.

The same with Janzer. His bullshit tough guy act worked great against the D2 National Champ he beat. But when he got to a ranked opponent he is South Jersey ass handed to him.

Bottom line same crap every year but same people will defend and defend. We dont win big ranked duals - ever…. Yeah we have some solid and AA wrestlers but its clear this is what it will be every year. At this point there is plenty of track reord. Some are ok with that. Im not.

But that's what happens every year. Will you buy in next year too?

Labriola will be lucky if he stays for this year.He is just using this as a stepping stone to bigger things. Can you blame him.I think maybe it's time with cash in ole Goody and get Donnie back.
I don't see either of those happening. Look back to my prediction of what would happen (and suggestion) when we learned of the Donny, Seabass, and Buxton departures.

Peterson and Turley were by far the biggest let downs today. Yes, Soldano looked bad but at least he lost to a higher ranked opponent.

Dean got beat by bad wrestler from LIU and then was getting dismantled by Robinson. If he finds a way to fight through and finish, we would have still had a realistic chance to win the dual. I know concussions are a serious matter but regardless those 6 points really hurt the teams chances.

Turley simply needed to be better and came up extremely small in a big spot against a non-elite opponent.

It's still November. If they perform in March nobody will remember this dual
That’s a big IF and Goodale himself has said these types of duals matter so I’m not buying it completely. They matter for national perception, recruiting, and getting to the next level as a program but you can’t have the same guys, the so called veteran leaders, always coming up small.

Have to start to wonder if SCW is not the better choice at 184. Seems like more upside and will keep himself in matches

Perform what in March, u mean the same maybe 8 qualifier, maybe 2 AA, finish around 15-20th maybe, beat who we are suppose to beat and lose to who we are suppose to lose to?
We’ll battle it out with Little Rock to try for a top 20 finish at nationals. Goodale has made a very consistent program.

I'll add my take.

125: Peterson totally abused by Robinson after losing to LIU's Sagaris. Peterson lost the NC State dual with his inj. def.
133: Shawver toughed it out yet again with a win over a tough Hohman. Shawver continues to be the best wrestler on the team.
141: Tough loss by Olivieri to 2 time AA Orine. If Olivieri can get out from bottom he has a chance to win. Feel good about Joey.
149: Clark with an awesome win over an excellent Buesgens. Clark showed up. Good on him.
157: Harer totally abused by Scott. I don't blame Harer. Scott is really good. Maybe folks on here can pump the brakes on Harer a bit and give him time to develop.
165: Barbosa with a huge win over Fields. Excellent work. Let's see more Barbosa. White loses this match easily.
174: Turley beats himself again, but credit to Singleton. No, the refs did not lose this for Turley. He got beat.
184: Soldano. What to say? He looked small (again) and has not developed at all. I would have redshirt him and sent him to 174 next season.
197: Poz is the best wrestler on the team after Shawver. Gets the work done and keeps RU in the running to potentially win the dual.
285: Yara beat by an excellent Trumble. Again, Yara has a hard time with taller and lengthier HWTs and could not get out from bottom.

But of course, we'll get the people saying "well what was the program before Goodale" to defend our stagnation. Based on what we produce in New Jersey with wrestling talent compared to Rutgers current status, they are grossly under performing. We are one of the top 5 wrestling states in this country. It should be a no brainer that we draw the Iowa type talent from out state. But we get the Jimmy Mullens types leaving our state, consistently. Outside of Ashnault, we never get these top one percenters right into our program that just set the tone for greatness. When we do get Petersons, Soldanos, Scott Winstons, they end up becoming the bundt of our " RU busts" jokes. No offense to the staff, but they really dont have an inspiring resume with coaches and recruiting, now that Donnie is gone. I know Goody deserves all the respect for what he had done, but we really need new faces for the coaching staff. I know it sounds crazy, but I would love to grab a Ryan Morningstar or a Terry Brands. If we got Terry Brands...wouldn't that be a site to see when we wrestle Iowa.

That Harer match was tough to watch. Was looking forward to seeing him in action after all the hype. He didn't do one thing in that match to warrant any hype. I get it he faced a solid opponent but was complete domination from start to finish. Maybe time to redshirt.

So, I bit the bullet and paid the $2.99 for the 1-month membership for the UFC site stream.

I was very impressed with the stream and the production. Shane Sparks was announcing on the call with Mike McMullan (sp.?) doing the commentary. Well done. The camera work was excellent with multiple cameras used. The replays were excellent. The sound was excellent. Also, it sounded like Jason Bryant was doing the announcing in the venue. Class production. Better than BTN or BTN+.
