Funny how they always had a hard on for "Tark the Shark" at UNLV.

They will not severely penalize the programs that get people to watch games.

Dumb quote. I can't stand people in high places that can't even get pr right.

Kentucky and Louisville have both been placed on probation and banned from NCAA Tournament.

How many are bigger than them ?

Those UNLV teams were fun to watch and some of the greatest teams we have ever seen. They beat duke and coach k by like 30 in the championship game .

Kids all over the country, including New Jersey, were wearing UNLV shirts and hats. They were the most popular team in the nation for a few years until the NCAA took them down.

After that many of those same people were wearing UMass hats.

I think that the common theme is that the establishment doesn't like outsiders crashing their parties. This goes for all aspects of life.

NCAA definitely kept an eye on Tark. UCLA gave them good reason. At the same time there were piddly violations such as:

NCAA alleges: Between July 1996 and August 1997, head coach Bill Bayno and then-assistant Greg Vetrone provided improper recruiting inducements to Lamar Odom and made improper telephone contact with him.

UNLV responds: UNLV admits Vetrone sent Odom a Nike gym bag by Federal Express and gave him rides to work after his arrival in Las Vegas, and that Bayno and Vetrone inadvertantly phoned Odom within the same week. UNLV regards these as secondary violations.

Tark cheated at Long Beach before he ever went to UNLV. The NCAA went after him so hard because they knew he was violating rules and couldn't catch him. He was too smart, I guess.

It's very easy to criticize the NCAA, but the NCAA IS the member schools. This is not some outside group imposed on universities. If they really wanted to stop cheating, they could. But this is the ultimate inmates running the asylum.

BK IMO you cannot legislate integrity.

The only way it could ever get done would be a unanimous agreement from University Presidents that if the Program is put on probation all in it are fired.
