Nebraska Game Thread

Oh I guess asshat isn't ok but "jerk" is. When your only posts are bashing all our teams, you set yourself up for criticism. But I guess you just like to dish it out and not take it.
Really because for some reasons you are hellbent on sticking on some stupid point that has nothing to do with anything

Nebraska stinks missing consecutive layups but they might still win because Rutgers has no offense.

Another huge disappointment. ..Rutgers really is hurt by this loss headed toward the bubble. Still cant win the games against quality opponents

The tv announcer just announced that this will be the 6th straight league road loss for Rutgers which is pathetic. When Copper and Scaife don't score in high double figures, the likelihood of winning is slim.

Need a good point guard. Sorry Canty is not that good and shot clock winds down and get bad shot. Rachel on the other team was difference in game.

So predictable ... Iowa Part 2 ... Won't beat any B1G team on the road with a pulse. Tired of wasting another day watching a loss and hearing the wife complain about me watching the tube for 2 hours. Not worth the aggravation.

Something is fishy in Denmark. What is going on during practice. The talent level is so much better.

Game played at Nebby pace...defense has not been disruptive enough. If Rutgers wins its going to be done with defense. This is a huge gut check game with major conference and ncaa implications. We need our senior leadership to take over

Rutgers up 43-41 as we start the 4th..need to keep them under 60
Hard to be disruptive on D if you get fouls called for breathing on the other team. :-(

Other teams also always have a girl who can make a three. Nebraska girl made 8 versus PSU.

The stat of the game Rutgers 1-11 from the 3 point line. The bottom line is very few games will be won by scoring less than 60 points.

The next game is another road game against a ranked Michigan State team.

Whatvis the reason do u think these breathing fouls are called? Are we really fouling or are the refa anticipating due to aggressive d?

I wish I knew. There were at least 2 touch fouls called against in this game where I didn't see any contact, and they weren't called on aggressive plays. BTN doesn't show many replays so it's hard to get a second look.

Poor Parker can't buy a bucket. Offense and defense died in 4th quarter. We can't win on the road. Michigan State will be ugly. They whacked Iowa today at home by 7 I think. I think we are looking like the 18-11 record I predicted before the season. What really concerns me if we are this bad with all these seniors, it will be dismal the next few years as CV has not recruited top talent in the last few years.

Everybody knows Rutgers has a long history of excessive fouling many of which are far away from the basket. This game wasn't lost by the defense but rather not one player showed up on offense.Scaife missing 3 foul shots was a clear indication that this game was going to be very difficult to win on the road.

I stated in another thread that this program was heading in a downward spiral because of mediocre recruiting.Next year Scaife will be the only go to scorer and she will be a senior.Fans can ignore the obvious but that won't change the perception of the program.

Diana agree on fouls, I still think if Tammy Sutton Brown is not in foul trouble vs Purdue we beat them and maybe that year we win the National Championship. Purdue won it that year.

When Parker is out there it almost feels like we are playing 4 on 5 in the offensive end. I thought Tyler really struggled trying to fight through screens to avoid giving #5 open looks for 3s in the fourth qtr. Nebraska did a nice job running their offense down the stretch. We did not. Agree that next year could be long with very little offensive skill coming back.

I would still put the goal at 11-7 in league, to beat the bubble. Best wishes for CVS and family.

Natalie Romeo embarrassed Scaife and Parker who tried to guard her. If Romeo had not missed a bunch of wide open chippies she would have had a bunch more. She schooled us on pick and rolls. If we don't tighten up that defense it will be a long year.

We are a mediocre team and have been for a few years. We still can't recruit shooters. I watch so many other games and the teams can shoot 3's and we just cannot make 3's. Has been this way for years now.

Thanks for this contribution

Why has the press vanished from our D arsenal?

Not sure we have the athletes to play the 55 for an extended period of time. We put it on late after being down about 6, but at that point we were just about done and near desperation. I guess the Jeune twins aren't ready to make much of a contribution since they would seem to be helpful on those situations.

Without knowing the outcome yet, if anyone told me RU had 4 players in double digits, I would automatically assume a win. It's usually an excellent sign. So, I was shocked with the loss.
We've got talent for sure, just need it to all come together and play confident the rest of the way.

Copper was the high scorer with only12 points which is a clear indication why Rutgers lost the game. When I read that a team has talent, my immediate response is talent as compared to what opponent and where the game is being played.

disappointed that no one that CVS brought in is really contributing..not Jeune, not Sanders, not Harris, and not Parker from the previous years...you just cant have that...all successful top 25 schools have underclassmen contributing in a major way or impact players. Its just 3 players and that's it on our team and two graduate

I would take Scaife and Copper over just about anyone at their positions in the B1G. As an overall team, I'd like to believe on paper we have to be (should be) more talented than the bottom half of the league. If we aren't, that's squarely on CVS.
If you believe that we, as a team, are as talented, then it's what Bac said....we are underperforming, and again that's squarely on the coach and staff.

Vivian's name once was enough to overcome every handicap she had making RU WBB a top program, now her name isn't enough to overcome the obstacles placed in front of both Basketball programs when it comes to impressing the recruits.

When Stringer signed her 4 year extension in 2014 I felt she might be giving herself two years and ,making it easy to replace her after those two years were up.
I think CVS and Julie decided after 2 years they'd talk about how RU WBB looked and devide if Vivian wanted to stay or not or if Julie wanted to go in a different direction without breaking the bank.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the RU WBB Coach Emeritus Stringer feeling like she left too soon after seeing the RU WBB program becoming just like the Men's BB program .
But her detractors feel someone can be hired and the program will be the cream of the crop even in a leaky container
Better understand with all WBB faults it's still a pretty good program and that's because C.Vivan Stringer can still coach with the best, but doesn't have the support to keep RU WBB among the top because recruits see what she has to work with.

Want to see a program that has the same type of support that WBB gets , look at the RU MBB program from when Vivian was first hired till the present day and compare programs.
The disrespect Vivian gets on this board by some makes me think she needs to put her hair in a ponytail to get accepted.

edit: rant over and not aimed an any pertuclar poster or posters, just the effects of seeing Stringer bashes over and over for the last couple of years without anyone acknowledging it might be a little harder for her to get the talent she needs because they see what she has to work with and chances of improving on that are slim.
I don't like RU WBB not being among the best anymore and look like a middle of pack program, but feel the fall was inevitable with the amount of support both basketball programs are getting.
But blame the HC and think a Geno clone will replace her and RU WBB will not need support from the Administration." Miracles Happen" and anyone can win at RU

What do you mean by "lack of support", new trading facilities? CVS got Final Four talent like Matee, Essence, Kia, etc without them so I don't buy that excuse. Maybe they don't come here now because they feel she is a short termed?
