Look, this game was a blowout any way you slice it, but against teams that like to run and gun I believe in using aggressive defense where you go for steals and if necessary fouling 9 times per half (before the act of shooting — non-shooting fouls other than one-and-one).
This slows the better opponent down and helps to keep them out of an offensive rhythm.
Against Purdue we only had 13 total fouls for the game. Harper fouled out and Doorson had 3 fouls, but other than that no one else had more than one foul for us. That just shows a lack of defensive intensity and aggressiveness that’s needed against an opponent like Purdue.
