Fresh off its triumph over No. 20 Penn State, Rutgers moved up nine spots to No. 20 in the NCAA NET rankings on Wednesday. Seton Hall, which has won four straight since losing 68-48 at Rutgers on Dec. 14, moved up three spots to No. 22.

NET is the ranking system the NCAA developed last season to replace the RPI. It factors in game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin, net offensive and defensive efficiency, and the quality of wins and losses.

Now, the question is whether Rutgers’ gaudy NET ranking will result in a spot in the AP Top 25 next week.
