New "Celebrity" Rutgers Fan?

Thinking that John Daly lives in the Doctor Phillips area of FL.

Always nice to have a celebrity fan; better still if he becomes a donor. LOL.

You know, I'm starting to get tired off all the "Chop" usage. I mean, I don't think we've used the chop chant during a game in a while.

But if recruits and coaches (and celebrity fans) are still using it, I guess I'll have to deal with it, until we can find something better.

When we win will start to get a few back...when we WIN we'll start to get more phone calls from publicists about sideline (we have already seen this in the past) and Audi availability...when we WIN, well that's when it will get fun. :sunglasses:

"Celebrity"? Wow. how we have altered perception of what a celebrity is; I think he had won one or two bush league championships at the beginning of the 22nd century
When was his last Big win? 1995?

Guys better up their tailgating game if Daly starts showing up...
Damn... would be awesome to get him to some games. Coach Ash should reach out to him once he has the team winning some big games. If he comes and watch us gey blown out, it might be tough to convince him to come watch again

Daly is immensely popular. Nice try.

He's welcome to tailgate with my Father and I on the course anytime

You're right about his last major Tournament victory ( British Open) was in 1995
Daly's PGA win was in 1991 and he did take the Buick Invitational ( Farmer's Insurance now) Open in 2004
He also owns JD Designs which designs golf courses and one of them: Sevillano Links at Rolling Hills Casino in Corning, California, was named "Best New Golf Course" by Golfweek magazine in 2007
But despite his not being one of the best Pro Golfers, he does have a highly recognizable name and that does make him a celebrity, in my opinion.

Yawn...wake me up when we hear from a real celebrity like Dr Philips alums Wayne Brady or Joey FatOne

Rutgers is known for the CHOP. Why get rid of the one thing everyone in college football knows refers to Rutgers?

Daly listed at 5'11'' and Pollock towers over him, so hopefully some posters can stop complaining how short he is.

Would love to see Daly hitting drivers out of HPSS at Halftime. That would be a show. Come on Long John, Get on Board, make RU your second team like Gentlemen did.

As far as his career, yes, underachieved for the talent he had, and the peronal life with the exes wearing rolexes and all the drinking surely cost him a boatload of Cash.

But there are guys in the hall of fame with only 2 majors, some with none, so nobody can ever take that away from him.

A golfer in a bowler's body. Perfectly fit to excel in a "sport" in which you can drink beer and smoke cigs while playin'. Let's get him a big 'ol block "R" to sport on tour.

I've stood next to Pollock he's 5'11" max. No joke. Maybe has boots on and JD in sandals? Also gotta think the 2 are on opposite ends of the spectrum posture-wise lol!

There was a chant during Schiano's heyday when people would slowly say "Chop...Chop...Chop...(increasingly fast)". I think it was when someone was leading us and we were making our way back.

Well I must have been completely blacked out during those games.

Daly is not only a celeb, he's an urban legend. They guy has won tournaments while black out drunk and chain smoking.

I would have to imagine Jonathan knows a lot of Pro golfers, as his dad works for the Golf Network.

Why do you guys feel the need to insult everybody and anything that could possibly be positive.....and you wonder why nobody like anyone from Rutgers or NJ. This was a feel good moment for Jon that he shared

No disrespect but I don't follow golf (or the Kardashian,) but the post above, I guess this does make him a Rutgers Hero.

FWIW one of his caddies and I were friends and a number of us went to Vegas to see Big John(there is a reason for that)play in the Vegas Open.We had VIP tix and the whole deal but Daly missed the cut.So we all went over to Daly's sweet to watch college football and it was quite a day.Mick called Daly who was in his bus at the golf course and told him we were coming over,Daly told him to call room service and order whatever we wanted.Needless to say a half dozen Iowa boys took advantage of the situation. We ordered premium vodka, shrimp, oysters on the half shell...Two waiters did this twice with carts during the day. That same weekend Mick was with Daly playing poker and he was up over half a million(I know he has dropped way more than this as well).Long story but thought I would share.

I liked his clothes and long drives.

Love the long drives, but you have to be joking about the clothes man!!

and yes, the guy is a legend in terms of his partying ability...do some searches and read about how much this guy can/could drink...it's actually a bit scary.
