Awesome! Glad someone got a clean version as I posted it earlier but it was deleted for having another site's watermark.

Of course because you never played football and for Rutgers
As you know, I have relationships with many kids on the current team and have never heard a complaint about the uniforms.

Pay the big $ for the sideline pass with the Letterwinners. You'll be laughed off the field.
Helmet battle scars are earned and a point of pride of linemen and linebackers.

I've been coming to Rutgers football games since I was around 2. I like the 2011 uniforms better than the throwback uniforms, because I pay enough attention to the uniforms to notice the lack of block R on the white pants. I'm helping create a history course on Rutgers history. I know two separate letter winners. For god's sake, drop the holier than thou attitude.

I like this helmet. I DID predict it (http://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/threads/traditional-uniforms.36095/#post-701657)

And someone will complain about everything. In fact, if you respond negatively to this post, you'll just prove me right.

See my post to VKJ. Pay the big bucks to stand on the sidelines and ask all the former players if they think fake battle scars is a good idea. Don't take my word for it.
Ask Sean O'HARA about fake battle scars

Seriously? I don't need to pay "the big $ for a sideline pass", if I want to stand on the field I can just ask and I'll be there. This doesn't need to be a pissing contest, I'm just saying the guys I know love the helmets. I have no doubt the letter winners your age like the old ones....doesn't mean anyone who doesn't need a prostate exam agrees.

After his tweets maybe Shawn O'hara should stick to commentating on games.

It's not a pissing contest. It's a fact that helmet scars are earned not painted on. Period.

It's not 1990 anymore.tune to ESPN2 and look for "battle scars". I'm not sure if it's the helmet technology or equipment staff but we are in week 5 and every guys helmet looks brand new. Thoughts?

Thoughts? You do understand that every game day helmet gets repainted before every game by every team that has the money to do it. There is many videos on that.
Rutgers is the only team in America that paints battle scars on helmets BEFORE the game

Yea, then who is earning battle scars? We practice with red helmets and after every game our actual helmets are touched up. Yet, old guys are concerned they aren't earned? If a battle scar is earned and painted over before anyone sees it did it really ever happen?

Obviously you have no clue. You only earn scars in games. I guess you can't figure it out as you never played. I don't know how to make you figure it out. Old/young doesn't matter. If you go into the locker room with REAL battle scars you were looked up to. Painted on scars are being mocked by opposing team's
Again, don't take my word for it. Ask O'HARA, ask Eric, ask BL, off record about FAKE battle scars

Now I never played? My bad, the memories from being 6 until 22 must be a dream. The free education I received because of my scholarship must be a mirage. Opposing teams mocking our helmets? One of the best players in NJ rocks more RU gear than the team he is committed to bc "it's the truth". Not gonna lie, I don't know what that means but I'm pretty sure it's not bad.

Pretty sure you don't repaint helmets with HGI's HydroSkin coating finish, which most have, including us, ND, Oregon, TCU, Maryland & everyone else. Our silver battlescarred helmets are 1 of the best in the country.

Dude you need to check out many videos of ND getting "refreshed" before every game. Jeeze it goes back to Rudy days.

So you are saying you played football for 16 years but never has a battle scar but you think it's cool that they are painted on??

Sometimes when I read your posts I think we never met. You know exactly what I do, who I am, and who I know but you post like we are strangers. Shit changes....when I was in HS kids wore pads on every part of their body. It was as if pads made you tough. By the time I was in college we were trying to shed pads using the wax bottom of Gatorade cups as knee pads. My son is in first grade and I don't have him wear the issued rib pads because they are cumbersome and stupid.

Wax bottom of gatorade?

I know who exactly who you are, have smoked your private stocked cigars, you parked next to me or near me but am blown away that you think painted on battle scars are a good idea and a badge of honor

Even if the "battle scars" you're referencing don't exist anymore?

What the former players think doesn't matter. What does is current and future players. They like them.

I guess I'm boring but I like the all scarlet ones with the white block R (or all white with scarlet block R)

...then again I don't wear them, so whatever the kids like!

Yea, the green Gatorade cups that you see on the sidelines at games. We used to use the bottom of the cups as knee pads. They had some wax like coating on them that you could scratch off with your finger nails....not sure why I remember them like that. Lol

Faux scars are reminiscent of the "participation" awards so prevalent in youth sports: everyone gets one, regardless of their ability or effort or outcome. Yay!

We don't need them. And real helmet scars are repaired before the equipment is worn for the next game.

We definitely looked up to the guys with earned battle scars when I was in high school, at Montclair we opted to not paint over the scars between games. We wore them as a badge of honor and it was no coincidence the most feared guys and hardest hitters on the team had the most colors of the opposing team all over their helmets. But that was 1975 and things change, including not leading with your head and helmet to helmet contact frowned upon and illegal in open field tackles.

That said, I like the helmets, so I'll continue on my crusade to please let me read the names and numbers on the red unis…is that to much to ask?

As you know, I have relationships with many kids on the current team and have never heard a complaint about the uniforms.
The kids love our unis. It's the old farts that complain every single day. Bring black and white tv back too .
