Of the rookies who sticks? It seems Carroo is a definite. Gause likely as he's currently backing up the starter.

Longa appears to be a long shot with the Seahawks. I appears he's battling 5 guys for two spots and not favored. Lumpkin just signed with a new team last week so don't know where he stands if at all.

Surprising that Gause looks to be in a better spot than Longa in terms of making a roster, given all the accolades Longa received at RU and the lack thereof for Gause. Gause was always a very hard worker and smart kid, though, so glad to see him succeed. Looks like Longa could've probably used a year of tutelage under Ash and co. instead of leaving early. Boy would that have been nice.

Could also be Longa is trying to make a team known for having good defensive players so he started off with a slimmer chance. The last article I read had him as 1 of 2 most likely cuts.

Not an expert, thought one more year would have made a huge differences for Longa, really hope he lands somewhere.

I don't know if the Seahawks have more to come but their cuts are out and Longa wasn't one of them.

The Jags cut Bjoern Werner...on his birthday.

They're still at 84 players and must get to 75 by 4pm eastern. So 9 more cuts should be expected in the next hour.

these are the toughest days for players and families. Oh man, I hated this stress...

I think Gause looks to be in a good spot...class player and person. great family

Yep, just checked.

Indianapolis Colts cut OL Keith Lumpkin. Also of note, Carolina Panthers cut WR Miles Shuler.

I didn't follow the situation real close but Gause seemed like he should have played more at RU. In his earlier years, he would be all over the field when he subbed in games, and then he wouldn't be used much anymore. He would go from flash player to the bench

It would not have. I had a long talk with Steve about this. The coaches, NFL, and personnel people all told him an extra year would make no difference. His measurables are still his measurable and another year of wear and tear wasn't going to help his stock. He needed to prove he could play on an NFL field. Period.
I'm not saying I agree but this is what he was told and bought into.

Said it before, but IMO Gause is a lock to be at least be on the Eagles practice squad. I'm not sure about the 53 man roster. He's currently battling fellow UDFA Tavarres for the 6th LB spot on the Eagles. The Eagles gave Tavarres one of the biggest signing bonuses handed out to a UDFA this year, so they like him. We don't know yet if the Eagles will keep 5 or 6 LBs on the 53 man, so it's definitely not a set in stone situation for Gause.

At least one Eagles beat writer thinks Gause will make it, from http://www.phillymag.com/birds247/2016/08/30/eagles-wake-call-august-30/ :
Linebackers (6): Jordan Hicks, Mychal Kendricks, Nigel Bradham, Najee Goode, Stephen Tulloch, Quentin Gause.

The first five linebackers are essentially set in stone now that Tulloch signed, but it’s unclear whether the Eagles will keep five or six at this position; I’m adding a sixth because of how injury prone this group is. I’d give Gause the edge over Myke Tavarres, but this is yet another position where the Eagles could nab a player from another team after final cuts are made.

Two other things, it has come out since this article that apparently the Eagles are unhappy with Kendricks and he was with them for playing him 4 quarters in the last pre-season game. Who knows what will happen with that, maybe it frees up a spot for Gause or the Eagles try to sign someone else's cuts.

Tavarres was the guy in the news saying he was going to join Kaepernick in sitting during the anthem, but was advised against by his agent and will now stand.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just thought he would certainly be stronger, wiser.

As I said, I don't actually entirely agree with the idea. I would have advised he stayed but Im not an NFL exec.

Gause looking good tonight. Shed a block and tackled a Jet player in the backfield for a loss. From my limited viewing of Tavarres he didn't look great.
