Nice gift for lacrosse and soccer. 15 million

This is unbelievable. In just two short years RU is now only $8 mil. short of their $100. mil. goal. Hobbs and his team have been nothing short of amazing. Ground breaking in just 4 months. Decades of nothing and now new building every where.

This is great. Hobbs and the RU alumni are close to fulfilling their first big fundraising accomplishment for athletics. Hopefully the deep pocket alum as well as the not so deep pocket alum will see how giving back really changes the game in athletics and frankly more people will get onboard. This is wonderful.

I have no clue but we are probably still a big number short of what we need. We need to build baseball and softball stadiums, fix the RAC and spend some cash at the boathouse and program off the top of my head. But it feels great to know we are really moving forward in a major way for once.

Love this quote:

"We also hope this shows that you don't have to pick between academics and athletics when giving," said Mrs. Rodkin. "You can do both, or either. "At the end of the day, you are making life better for all Rutgers students."

Thank you! Hobbs and his team are getting key people connected with RU again. All of us here try to do our part and it all counts, but I am not able to drop 15 million any time soon. These gifts are huge and Hobbs and team are getting it done.

Maybe it's a bad pic but they have trees in the middle of yellow now...

Don't disagree in general as Hobbs and his development team definitely deserve kudos for pulling in this donation on the athletics side. That said, the Rodkins reconnecting with RU was accomplished prior to Hobbs as they have donated generously going back to well before he was hired, including the $2M they donated to the Honors College a few years back and some other academic-side donations, as noted in Sargeant's article. Hobbs and team are working hard to cultivate donors already brought into the system, and with potentially more to give. And hopefully that will create momentum with key folks whom they might be trying to connect with Rutgers that are either unconnected or only passively so.

Thank you for the clarification!

Thank you to the Rodkins!

Hobbs and the development team are doing a fabulous job. Hard to believe it has only been a couple of years since Pat took over.

Pretty sure I heard that was going to be on the docket...new baseball and softball stadiums. New Field hockey and track/field stadiums too. It would be dope to get a 3k baseball/1k softball stadium with lights, concessions, scoreboard with video, BTN capability, etc. Ditto for field hockey and outdoor track/field (lighting, scoreboard, etc).

Also pretty sure (though I could be mistaken) none of those particular facilities get you a stipend from the B1G if you have or build one on campus.

So what’re you saying? Good job Julie?

Wait, so if you spend money to build an on campus stadium for say baseball, the B1G doesn't give you a conference share for that sport. But if you play off campus they give you that share. That just doesn't sound right. I thought the B1G likes to have all contest played on campus sites.

Pat is the best AD we've ever had. Hopefully this gift is a sign to other big donors to get involved.
From a NJ.com article on this:

There is no price tag on the project, but Hobbs said the Rodkin family gift should "allow (Rutgers officials) to have a bunch of conversations for six-figure gifts'' for naming-rights to rooms throughout the new facility.

They do and that’s not what I’m saying with regard to the first part of your post.

I am being purposefully cryptic here.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Let me edit my previous post on the subject.

This couldn't have something to do with another Grunniger folly . Could it.:)

Nah, not that one.

Although I’m not sure if he was still around when the Someset Patriot possible venue on Livingston was talked about.

Ha ha, artistic license on the Yellow lot side of that rendering...no way Rutgers starts planting random trees scattered across the Yellow lot just for the heck of it.
I think where the old kid's zone was is the area that will disappear. I don't think those drawings are very accurate...How could we replace
any parking places if we lose a lot of yellow and blue?

Not sure how you got there when what I said was that previous Rodkin donations highlighted in the article were primarily all focused on academics. Therefore, the Rutgers Foundation staff has done a great job, and now Hobbs' team has done a great job with the Rodkins on the athletics side.

Ha! Keep that building open, and its bathrooms, on gameday for the yellow lot folk to cross over and "go" in relative comfort.

This is just a wonderful gift from The Rodkins. If only many other RU fans and grads would just contribute a little bit imagine how much we could accomplish.

Here are the details!

This also gets us closer to transforming the Hale Center into a 100% football building.

Looks like it's replacing this:
http://www.rutgersbigtenbuild.com/lacrosse-soccer-training-complex/index.html

With a bigger building. Going to be honest, not sure how great an idea this is locationwise; High Point is not the easiest part of campus to get to via the bus system. I can tell you from experience that getting there when it's raining or snowing, or god forbid on a weekend from other campuses isn't fun or easy. But I suppose it's good for Football, lacrosse, soccer, and swim, and they'll keep what they already have at the RAC.
