Big thing last night was he hit 6 straight foul shots. Last year had no confidence in the two guards we had to do that. Nice job Nigel!
Shields, as we discussed at the end of last year, Corey needed help and the team needed to get healthy. Eddie made some comments about Nigel being as good as Corey if not better and some posters ridiculed his statements. Frankly, we would not be 9-1 without him. Corey was in foul trouble last night and was tossed out in another and without Nigel those games turn to losses. Nigel plays great defense but specially pressures the opposing team's point guard making it difficult for them to run their offense, he can steal the ball from a number of guards, he can penetrate and break down a defender , he has a good mid range jumper and can shoot the 3. He rebounds with those great hops and can finish in transition. I think our guards will all help us immensely be very competitive in the Big 10 but Nigel will be a difference maker in a number of games.Big thing last night was he hit 6 straight foul shots. And hit foul shots, remember the Johnnie game where Corey and Bishop missed foul shots.
