NJIT plays at FGCU ("Dunk City"), Alico Arena, Fort Myers, FL tonight (01/14/16). Both teams coaches names will come up when and if Rutgers looks for a successor to Coach Jordan -- NJIT's Jim Engles and FGCU's Joe Dooley. Toss-up game.

FGCU still "Dunk City" after ( their HC Enfield had made Gold Coast that name by their style of play under him, took the USCw job?
Dooley's time at ECU wasn't awe inspiring (52-52) but a darn sight better than RU has had lately.
He seems to be doing well as the Eagles HC.

Dooley has recruited an interesting roster from all over the map and the team plays a highly entertaining style. Solid out of conference schedule, too.

If these two coaches are even in the top 5 in the coaching search then disbanded the team and wait 10 years to let it sink in that maybe we should be serious with the program.

Don't expect a big name coach to come here. If you aren't happy with Engles and Dooley, what about Toledo's Tod Kowalczyk? Has already been at Rutgers and certainly has winning and "Midwest" recruiting credentials. He's done a solid job at Toledo.

Engels would be a great candidate. So what if njit is not big time. Jim Calhoun was at northeastern before uconn.

Do fans really believe that head coaches of this stature will really resurrect Rutgers mens basketball? They probably would come cheap but its doubtful that top level recruits would be excited .

Just remember these guys have to start somewhere like another poster said Jim Calhoun started at Northeastern. Also Ricky Pitino started at BU.

Won't knock coaches from the NJIT/FGCU level after seeing what Enfield is doing with the USCw MBB program this season.
His first two ( 11-21 & 12-20) would have had this board screaming: Off with his head [sick]

How's year 3?

How's year 3?
15-5 and just beat UCLA.
Also beat the UofA and ASU the previous 2 games.
Monmouth was one of their losses (AdvoCare Invitational in Florida) after beating them at home 2 weeks before

Eddies year 3 is not working out so well
That's a shock [roll]
Last year some Trojan MBB fans were saying the same thing about Enfield ( thought it was only his second year) despite how bad that program had been the previous HCs last 3 years and being in the shadow of UCLA.

I was at the game Thursday night and thought in a few years both coaches will working at higher conferences. Engles reminds me of McDermott from Creighton. Recruits players who can hit the 3 . Lot of movement on offense, and crisp passing and cutting .

Dooley has recruited the most athletic ASun team I have have seen in the last 4 years . Sophmore Terrel was recruited by several SEC schools and Freshman Tucker was recruited by ACC schools . Rarely do these type of players go to an ASun school. I've been to several of their games this year and I believe if they were in the A Ten they would be in the middle of that conference. They played UMass and LaSalle at home and beat both teams. They also beat UMass last season on the road .

What I find so difficult to understand is that so many no name schools are able to recruit 3 point shooters/scorers and Rutgers from a power conference continues to shoot blanks.
