No. 19 Rutgers Wrestling Set for 2022 Garden State Grapple Sunday at Prudential Center

I would suspect since Soldano can still redshirt at this point, they are just keeping all options on the table until it's official (pending an injury)
Soldano is 7-1 according to Wrestlestat. How many were not attached? What's the rule? Five matches? Didn't he wrestle four matches between Stanford and the tournament?

The Penn match is real interesting as obviously they are a program on the rise. Nearly won dual at Iowa recently.
The way I see it as a moderately knowledgeable fan is (and would love to hear from those more knowledgeable):
We gotta win 141 and 184 and probably need +9 while doing it. It looks like there are 5 that are more or less toss-ups (but we’re slight underdogs in all) and we need to win at least 3 of the 5: 125, 133, 174, 197, HWT. Can’t lose 125 and 133 and expect the other 3 to go our way.
Penn seems hungry. An RU win here and I’d be impressed.
Other thoughts?

-I think we’ll be favored at 125. 3-0 RU
-Slight dogs at 133. 3-3
-Favored at 141. 6-3 RU, would be nice if Alvarez can snag an extra point.
-True toss up at 149. I think White can take this one though. 9-3 RU
-Dogs at 157 but no reason Clark should be giving up bonus. 9-6 RU
-Dogs at 165 but again, keep it to a decision. 9-9
-Dogs at 174. 12-9 Penn
-Favored at 184. Bonus potential. Pin would really put us in good shape but I’ll go with a major. 13-12 RU.
-Dogs at 197. Janzer can slow a match down though and keep it low scoring. 15-13 Penn
-Favored at 285. 16-15 RU

Tight match, the biggest match is 149 for sure. If White can pull that off we’re in the drivers seat but need Clark, Oneill, and Janzer to stay off their backs. I’m more confident in Clark and Janzer to do that. Oneill I have no clue. If Soldano can work a pin, it would be huge and if Alvarez can snag some bonus that’s also great. If Peterson drops a decision, it’s going to be an uphill battle to win but I think he’ll be fine. Would be a nice win.

I think 174 can be a win if Turley wrestles and is in decent form. White can pull it off despite ranking difference. O'Neill could surprise. Will both Turley and Janzer wrestle? Big question there. I think we split at 125 and 133.

Why do u consider 149 a true toss up? Id prolly consider 133/165/174/197/hwt closer to a tossup then 149.. #10 Zapf just took #6 Murin into OT.. White has upside but would be huge if he wins this.. tons of swing matches in this one..

I didn't know that, so maybe I'm wrong too. I had just looked at common opponent performance and took a biased stance. I agree that 133 and 165 have toss-up standing but 174 will depend on whether Turley wrestles - and if so, wrestles well. 195 will be a big challenge regardless of who wrestles. I do believe Boone wins.

On paper, Boone is technically a slight underdog, but I agree I think he will win this one.. 133 rooting for Heilman but idk he hasn’t shown flashes of AA potential like Bulsak did.. we need this one..133 and 165 most likely going to Penn.. 174 I got Turley if he goes unless he’s inj again.. 197 got Penn..

125- ru 3-0
133- p 3-3
141- ru 7-3
149- p 7-6
157- p 7-9
165- p 7-12
174- ru 10-12
184- ru 15-12
197- p 15-15
Hwt- ru 18-15

This is going be a tight one.. got it RU dub 5/5 split with a bunch of tossup matches..

Love the optimism but this is going to be a tough match. I have it 18-15 Penn (6-4 bout split to Penn) but the only bonus I have is a pin by Soldano (a lot to ask of the Freshman). Could be bonus in other matches but I’m staying conservative b/c so many of these kids grew up wrestling with each other/are very familiar with each other.

125- If healthy should wrestle Peterson here as an eval. Miller beat Shawver last year. 3-0 RU Peterson over Miller
133- Colaiocco (Blair kid) sucked too much weight last year. He is tough and a bad match up for Heilmann (very technically sound, good on his feet, tough rider on top). Path to victory for Heilmann will be to keep it tight with stingy defense and to test his gas tank with constant pressure. 3-3 Colaiocco over Heilmann
141- More Jersey on Jersey crime. Ferrante is small for the weight but has a huge heart. Sammy needs to have his head right here and not give up stupid points early. 6-3 RU Alvarez over Ferrante
149- Zapf too much for White 6-6
157- Artalona is going to be pissed off after being up big and getting stuck at Iowa. Artalona over Clark 9-6 Penn
165- Jersey vs Jersey again. Revano over O’Neill by decision 12-6 Penn
174-Important match here. Talent is there with Turley but results aren’t yet this year. Can’t give him the win until he proves he can do it. Incontrera over Turley 15-6 Penn
184- Need Soldano in the lineup here. Big opportunity for bonus. Soldano by fall over Hale 15-12 Penn
197- Have to win the battle from neutral here. Cannot go underneath this guy. Urbas over Janzer. 18-12
285- Boone needs to wrestle smart. Penn heavy Goldin is strong and athletic but not very technical. Boone by decision 18-15 Penn

Also how is there no clock or score?
Horrible, great video though. But if you’re going to have no score board the announcer needs to be better at continually updating score, time and riding time.

Yeah the video production is great but would love to see the score and whatnot (hopefully it’s coming) as well but the video is obviously the most important especially since I had to give away my tickets since I have the flu.

Don’t know who this announcer is but he’s definitely done his homework.

This guy needs to hit the Penn guy for stalling. He backed up the whole 1st not one shot, ridiculous by the ref.
