I have been told that Middlesex County has decided NOT to allow parking anywhere in Johnson Park this year. No free first responder parking in Grove 4. No public parking anywhere else.

They MAY allow parking for bigger games like tOSU but that will be decided as it gets closer to game day. As of right now there is no parking arrangements for at least the first 3 games.

I have been given no reason for this.

Wow, that's a kick in the crotch! Nice of them to give plenty of lead time on this.

Wow, thank you for posting. It will be interesting to see the rationale for this decision.

That is even worse. If people are coming to the Washington game and expecting to park there they could at least make an announcement sooner rather than later.

Can someone post a pic of a screenshot from google maps and mark off the areas that are no longer parking available based of the OP's post? (Sorry - I cant figure out how to post a pic into my posts and want to confirm which areas are now not for parking)

ALL of Johnson Park.

ALL of Johnson Park.
understood. just confirming -- that also includes the paved parking lot directly next to the Horse Track (to the right of rt 18 if youre looking at an aerial map)??

where i was always able to park with my father. this creates a bit of an issue for us at least for the opening game.

"War in the Park" for the Washington game rather than War before the Shore.

Total BS.
Rutgers wants to play in the B1G but does not get the cooperation from the local Government agencies in the access/ egress to the Stadium.
Not a good move in our efforts to "build the Fan experience " and improve attendance.

More unneeded pressure on the Shuttle Buses / RAC parking this year.

conspiracy theory: RU requested the county close the park so that they would not lose the revenue from the folks who parked there and now must park at the RAC.

Wonderful way to "build the fan experience " .
Hopefully this theory is totally false otherwise Rutgers is undermining their own Program and will lose more fans as a result.

If true and that comes oput, the revenue RU gained won't make up for the PR lost when some casual fans think about going to some of the games and the hard feelings of some RU fans have about the move when it comes time to donate.

I always thought the Johnson Park area was the best deal around. So close to the stadium and an incredible view. They should bring it back and double the price. Mostly away fans anyway.

I say we move the game to Yankee Stadium. We can take mass transit, so no parking necessary. Win/win for everyone.

LMAO.... see what you did there.

Yes, that's answer .......alienate even more fans and drive our Attendance even lower.
Brilliant!
lol

Yeah, but there is nothing that says that fans going to games at Yankee Stadium can't park in Johnson Park- it's a short 1 mile walk to the New Brunswick train station. Win-win--park in Johnson Park, enjoy your tailgate, and take the train to iconic Yankee Stadium!!!

Bucclueuh park or however you spell it is a good option, short walk to the stadium and easy exit after

I reached out to Rick Lear to confirm/deny. He is the director of Middlesex county Parks.

Did he confirm or deny that parking/tailgating is no longer allowed in Johnson Park?

The park is under Middlesex county control. RU has no input whatsoever.

I never understood why the university didn't lease the park for games. Throw a ton of money at the parks so they make out. Rutgers makes out by selling some prime parking.

The Biomedical and Health sciences lot is a good value at 20 bucks and walkable to other lots. I would expect this lot to get an increase in cars this year.

Maybe it isn't worth it to the state...I doubt the state cares about Rutgers' game-day parking woes...

I would assume one could still park for free by the zoo for day games. There is no time parking limit there.
