Anyone hearing anything on this one? Seems like he would be a good addition for next year.

A 6-foot-9-inch sophomore, Mitchell averaged a team-best 18.8 points and 7.2 rebounds for the 8-7 Minutemen this season.

He was ESPN’s No. 74-ranked player in the Class of 2019 out of Woodstock Academy in Connecticut and chose UMass over a number of Power Five schools including Illinois, Syracuse, Louisville, and Connecticut.

The Pittsburgh native averaged 17.7 points and 7.2 rebounds as a freshman, earning A10 Rookie of the Year honors. He also was on the A-10′s All-Academic team.

Sorry to hear as I root for UMass. Heckuva player Watch him go to one of the other finalists. Thats how it usually goes.

Im just not that optimistic wit recruiting right now. Some of the players we are signing, indicates that we really are missing, and just not that attractive yet

Exactly. This kid is what we need. From the little I saw this year if we swapped him with Riemers both would be in a league appropriate to their talent level.

Are signing or WERE signing? The only guys we've gotten commitments from since January of 2020 are 4 star national level-type recruits. When we got commitments from Reiber, Mag and Swede we hadn't had a winning record in almost 20 years. What kind of recruits are you expecting after decades of failure?

What kind of winning were we doing when we signed that stacked 2011 class - with Kadeem Jack, Myles Mack, Jerome Seagers, and Eli Carter? Or when we signed Rosario, Echinque, and Dane Miller all in a row? A superior coach like Pike shouldn't have to give 3 of his last 6 schollys to players who belong in the American East conference

Miller and Jones both signed in November 2020. Jones joined us early in January of 2021 and has played in 4 games this season. Is Tre Mitchell someone who might consider RU. At least he is 6'9" and seems to score and rebound.

stacked class? So far our 3* specials geo, Myles, Ron all have had better runs at Rutgers than that stacked class....

it is all about the right pieces for what pikiell wants to do. If Archie did the same he may still be employed however hewasn’t fortunate enough to work at a school that would allow him to build it his way.

Thought this was interesting. Scott drew did not have a winning season until year 5. Followed by a round 1 loss, then NIT, elite eight, missed every tournament, elite eight, the a bunch of ncaa turnementa since.

Erasing decades and generations of futility is no simple task. Being in the Big Ten helps, but the long term doormat status is a big obstacle.

Agree. This fantasy that we aren't recruiting well needs to be put to rest.
