Notes from today's practice...

@BKIn118 without having to mention any names, it seems like we're all set on getting that commitment soon. Should we expect anything by the end of this week? Ask this on the RT instead? lol thank you.

Well..

The timing of it may be up for debate, but it was made clear to me that it was coming, with it also being suggested it would be sooner rather than later.

Best I can do sir!

BK

Seems like those guys over there knew something before anyone else lol. Anyway seems like a solid get.
why does issa thiam seem like a solid get - cant find much on him.

I hope he's great, but he's a mystery man

OK BK so it looks like we will have a committ with a foreign kid (seems like everybody knows who he is ) but the bigger question is: Are you hearing any other irons in the fire regarding other recruits ? Isn't the NLI early signing period is coming up in Nov? I just hope we can keep the momentum going!

Ruman, gotta wonder if doorson/ diallo helped find this kis. From what i saw, he is defense minded, tall and possesses a decent shot for hos size. Under radar. Decent player with big upside.

Anybody else see Alvydas when he first played an exhibition game at RU? I think he scored about 26 points, had a zillion rebounds, and I thought we had found the next Bill Walton. Didn't quite turn out that way. Saw him once a couple years after he graduated and chatted with him and he was a heck of a nice guy.

(And thank you, SirScarlet.)

wow.... was going to post the exact same thing..... I compared him to Walton as he held the ball in the middle and made some great passes to cutting players, on top of all the scoring... I think it was his best
game for RU, sadly...

I think the game went double or triple ot....I had to leave after the first ot.

Bannon ruined Tenys. He tried to turn him into a banger, which was not his game. Tenys was a classic high-post center. Fine passer. Nice shot. Bannon tried to turn him into a low-post center. Still pi$$eS me off when I think about it.

You should see Alvydas today....he is cut from stone, looks like a mountain.

Such a great guy...remembers RU fondly
Glad to hear that, BK. My fifteen minute chat with him at a game he went to after he graduated was really pleasant. Hope he's doing well. Great guy.

That was an awesome performance. I just remember him running the floor and dishing to people on the break. Bannon really failed with Tenys. People that hadn't been there for that exhibition game thought this guy was the typical big stiff but there was talent that was never developed. Should have been so much better.

Am told the player in question will be here in November for an official, so timing of the verbal will be held until after his visit.

Stay tuned!

For what it's worth, a friend who played college ball recently saw Sanders play and said to my friend, "how the hell do you get that guy." So he was impressed.

I've got to say, saw two practices so far and Nigel Johnson looks phenomenal. I really wish we could suit the kid up this year, but he buried every shot he took. Corey Sanders for being so touted did not hog the ball at all in scrimmages, and always seemed to make the right play. Diallo had a good motor, and is very athletic. Freeman looks like a guy who can help us on the boards, and is going to get a lot of dirty points down low.

Overall, I'm very impressed with this team in comparison to last years. Just wish Johnson could suit up. He will be an instant upgrade next year.

Also, Shaq told me he didn't have any pain in the ankle, so hopefully this injury turns out not to be as serious as we thought.
