The old Big East was a league for the ages. There will never be anything like it again. As someone who went to every Big East Tournament when we were in the league, it was a time that i will always cherish with great memories. Kudos to the current Big East and to Villanova for keeping the BET alive and well but in reality the league is now a shell of itself. If the Big East can sway UCOnn into its fold, it will make the BET that much more like old times. Anyways we re where we need to be. Now hopefully the new BIg 10 commish will have our tournament at Barclays every 3 -4 years. ACC does it and the arena had juice which it will also with the Big 10 given the alumni in the NYC area as we saw with MSG last year.

I guess Uconn just cannot give up the division one football dream, but they would do very well in the big east bb, and would bounce back..... they are stuck in a league where they are slowly dying......
as I remember hearing it.... Lappas did not just resign, he was forced out....... Nova helped him secure his next coaching job where he was hired quickly....
Nova did this because they knew if they did not act, we would get Wright....
The BE has good programs now but half of them are in the Midwest, so you don't have the local rivalries as much.
Getting UConn would be a very good move. Perhaps another refugee from that league like Temple. 12 teams could work. Neither of those are going anywhere with FB.
Xavier VS Creighton, DePaul VS Butler, Providence VS Marquette. Not a lot of appeal beyond pretty small fan bases. The upside is limited. In the BIG, SEC, ACC there are flagship state universities with huge alumni followings. Outside of Georgetown, Nova, and St. John’s there isn’t much there to compete with other power 5 conferences for eyeballs and national interest.
Creighton, Marquette, Xavier, Providence have drawn much better than RU in mbb for a long time

Barclays was good enough for ACC last 2 years and for 2022 tourney. It ll be good enough for Big 10 tourney in 2023 hopefully. Most fans attending are alumni who live in ny metro area. I was at last 2 ACC tourneys which had big time juice and were sold out as well.
Where in the nyc metro area or even the east coast? Delany said he would prefer the tournament back east every 5 years? Wash DC 2 years ago was a disaster. Philly would be the same.
I agree... Philly would be easier for Rutgers and PSU fans but it would still underwhelm like DC did.
yeah DC and Philly are no goes. It has to be MSG really, I think Barclays or Prudential would also miss the mark

I cannot believe dan Hurley took that job without knowing they were going to be in a better league soon. I would live uconn to join. And agree, a 20 game home and home schedule.

I agree, you have to take that fb money if is available. I dont pay any attn to college fb. I could not name one Heisman candidate. I guess bama won it all again but I wouldn't bet much on it. But I do remember watching the flutie game when bc was great beating the best program of that era, Miami. And I wonder why they cant equal those times. Please don't tell me Miami can no longer cheat...lofl. bc, to name one school, gets lots more dough, has one local rival, and stinks in both sports. Dats progress I guess.
