DH vs. JG

1.) Which one did you like better as a prospect for Rutgers?

2.) Which one do you think has more pro potential at this time?

3.) Which one do you think will have more success on the college level at their respective schools?

Sorry for posting something not about current RU commits (I promise I'll start threads on them next), but I was curious about this topic recently. This was a conversation we really couldn't have as much in the past because we didn't want to denigrate either prospect when we were trying to get them to commit.

Haskins to all three, and I said it from the beginning. One of Dare/Russo will be a better starter than Guarantano. I think Jarret has a strong arm and good mobility, but I just don't like his makeup as a QB and something doesn't sit right when I watch him on tape. Haskins is phenomenal.

Sorry I don't watch high school tapes or live and die by rivals flawed star ranking system. Or follow every recruit.

QB is one of the tougher positions to predict making the jump from high school to college.

So to answer your question I have no idea and neither does anyone else.

Dont assume that Russo is coming here

if reports are true that he has finished his recruiting trips, we SHOULD be a lock.....the worst case situation would be
his verballing to RU in the next couple of weeks, he has a great senior year, then other colleges begin to pursue him.

but I would bet he is a RU verbal over the next 2 weeks....

Jeez if we can't even get Russo, this program is abysmal. We are by far his best offer.

Whats happened to my once potentially great school??? 2 years ago we were accepted into the B1G. Now we're a second rate destination likely competing with Indiana for last in the division.

Writing this is the last bit of energy I will spend discussing either of these 2 kids ever again. Can't wait to see us lay DH flat on his back. Hope we get the chance to do the same to JG. Would love to see us flatten his ass over and over again.

OK,
J. Guarantano; I think based on HS film(and yes I watched them), G will be a better College QB, only because he can run and enjoys it with good speed. It translate better to today's College game. But, I also think it will be his undoing((those skinny legs will not hold up.) Doubt he ever sees a Pro stadium.
D. Haskins; Very good pocket presence, moves well in pocket, good arm, but is not a natural thrower( I think this will be exposed in College), does not like to run will look to pass first and foremost, which is a good thing for the Pros. But, will leave points on the table in College. Edsel will love him, and overuse him! He has never had a QB like Haskins. If he stays health, and develops I view him having a legit shot at the pros.

But, and you guys are going to call me crazy for this, after watching film on both Russo and Duncan, I like them both better for RU. And, I think they both have Pro ability. Here is the twist.....ready? I really like Duncan, and I like him better both for RU, and as a future Pro, better than the other 3! Sorry, just the way I see it. There is a lot of HS film on him.
In that film he shows excellent abilities to read the Defense, and choose the correct receiver, he has great anticipation on his throws(where many 4 yr college QB's struggle),
his accuracy, especially on long balls is off the charts, he is always looking to succeed not just survive. Show leadership, pocket presence, and can make all the throws. The only knock on him is that he is not very fast, or big time runner. But, he does avoid the rush well in the pocket, and has the ability to pick up 5 to 7 yards. That's all you really need or want from a QB in a Pro set. He also has good fundamentals, both feet and body.
I know that at this point everyone is looking at Russo for this class, but I think that Duncan will be the better QB. Just my humble opinion. (:

Haskins is the better qb based on hs film. I don't think Edsall will be around for his freshman year let alone his sophmore year. Hopefully Plank's facility will be built by his senior year.

GO RU

I agree 100% with everything you said.

Guarantano has a long way to go to be a good passing QB. He needs to read defenses faster and make quicker decisions. He is a helluva runner though. I could see Tennessee making him a WR in 2 years.

Well, that was uplifting. I might have to agree with you.

JG is not a major college football qb, despite the stars which many take as gospel.
Haskins will be a Heisman trophy candidate.

Laviano is going to be a great one too. I can't understand why he's so underrated. He can run better than Haskins.
I want Duncan too-he looks like the real thing.
