Nunzio checks in on the Idrizi flip.

Prior to Addazio, Spaz was:
8-5, 7-6, 4-8 and 2-10 (22-29).
Addazio is on the same trajectory at 7-6, 7-6, and 3-9 (17-21). Yes BC is a fine educational institution, but why would a serious football player want to go there?
You shouldn't have to ask this question.
Hate them or like them, they have plenty of high profile NFL players and 1st round picks. Even in down years they play tough and lose close competitive games for the most part. IMO… when were both average or worse they would beat us, they would have beat us this year…quite easily I think.

No i do not think they would have beat us quite easily, they had no offense, lost most of their RB's and could not pass if their life depended on it. They may have won, but quite easily is not in their play book. My kid goes to BC I watched them and RU almost every week. Addazio is hot head, and will not last.

Their QB would have beat us by himself and would have had his career day passing…without Carroo, I don't think we score.

2 of their 3 wins this year were against FCS. They were 1-9 against FBS & 0-8 in conference. They wouldn't have beaten Bergen Catholic this year.

This is on Nunzio.

He should have counseled the kid to take a better path to the decommit. Rutgers can't trust him.

That's what it boils down to...

cant trust Nunzio now,hes proven to show his word about his players means nothing.
Next time he wants a spot for one of his marginal two/three stars..go look at JMU or Umass Coach Chump..typical N.J. prep school crap..but again..
its the back room NJ recruiting games that Ash and staff have no idea about hitting the ground with 3 weeks to recruit this year.

You think Italian is a race?
I lol'd at that one.

Bottom line is the kid is going some where else, whatever. When any kid does this I just move on because at the end of the day its the RU uniform I'm rooting for regardless of who puts it on.

BC Losses (with records in parentheses--it's hard to tell the records from the scores):

Florida State (10-3): L 14-0.
Duke(8-5)- L 9-7.
Wake(3-9) L 3-0.
Clemson (14-1) L 34-17.
Louisville (8-5) L 17-14
Virginia Tech (7-6) L 26-10.
NC State(7-6) L 24-8
Notre Dame (10-3): L 19-16.
Cuse (4-8)-L 20-17

Please. Against the putrid ACC, BC put up whopping 73 points in 8 games (9 ppg). They lost to 4 teams that were .500 and below during the ACC regular season.

lots of noise over a marginal player

yes I think this was a play to get the kid the offer he wanted
yes I think RU was used...but not abused...matters little
yes I think that when the pendulum swings...and I firmly believe it will....that if players are comparable then the offers should go to non-BC kids...for a while at least...

Ash will expand recruiting to where these local hotshots will not be getting their asses kissed down RU way anymore...I think the smarter ones will end up having great relationships with the current RU coaches...but more 50-50 relationships and it will be better for both sides in the end...I have very high hopes for Ash & co...

Please, we had Flood on our bench and implimenting his schemes, discipline and leadership skills during the week.
BC played defense at a completely different level than us, you can be delusional if you like, Flood beats no one

BCU was pathetic. Even Flood would post a W on them.

They beat Wake a Forest 3-0, lol.

Even though RU was down they did play Wash St and Michigan St competitively and could have won the Maryland game. I think whoever was the home team would win but RU would not have been beaten easily by BC.

I watched one BC game this year. They had a good defense but their offense was perhaps the worst I have ever seen. They couldn't even get a first down. We just move on. I think the commit and Nunzio both screwed up.

FWIW, over the last six seasons....2010-2015... Rutgers has a 40-36 won/loss record.
Boston College has a 30-45 won/loss record over the same last six years.
So, tell me again why we would lose a recruit to THAT program ?

If your Catholic and you value education, don't get me wrong here, my kid goes to RU and very happy with his choice. But the culture at Boston College and RU are very different, do you think Boston College has the diversity that RU has? Also, Boston College is ranked 30th and RU is ranked 72 by USNews College Ranking, I visited Boston College when we were looking for schools for my kid and ruled BC out because he would not fit into that culture. I can see someone coming from the private Catholic schools have a perception that going to Boston College is a step up from RU.

Because Flood was awful, and I think they were better than us. Just my opinion, I think they would beat us up.

If Rutgers and BCU played last year, it would have been like two of the worst NFL teams playing with each team looking like they were trying to lose to get a higher draft pick. The only thing is here is that there would have been no draft pick at stake. Bottom line is that I'm glad that we have Ash, and in a year or two BCU will have a new coach and perhaps some new optimism.

USNews College Ranking has very little based on quality of the education, but more so on perception, donations, cost and a few other non education factors. Show where Boston College is actually better education wise? Just because perception believes otherwise doesn't make it true.

don't forget that he is attending a Catholic high school. He probably received a lot of pressure in his school to go to a Catholic college. There is a cultural difference in campus life between public and private schools and even a different culture at the Catholic schools. If his decision is purely football we can 2nd guess the kid but I am thinking it is more than that, especially since RU and BC are comparable football programs right now.

BC actually had a good defense GSGS.

Three pages for a 2 star favor Ash did by offering him in the first place. I honestly believe this was Ash doing a favor by the offer. No way would this kid even be on the radar next year.
The kid did not make the right choice Columbia was the best school to offer this kid. So the kid blow it as for Nunzio we know he blows too

Agree. -What goes around comes around, and if BC had any hopes of RU possibly extending a schollie to any of their borderline talent in the future those went out the window today.

Ash & Co. won't forget this and they won't be put in this situation again. -Won't surprise me if as a result of this, any marginal BC players who'd like to be part of the Rutgers program will have to do it via the walk-on route.. The RU staff isn't going to waste another offer of a full ride on any of them.
Yup. Good job Campanilles
