The former long time baseball executive and 10 year third baseman for the Indians has passed.He was the AL MVP in 1953,having possibly the greatest year by any third sacker.
 
Great player on very strong Indian teams…them and the Red Sox just could not beat the Yankees.
The Indians did…once, in 1948.
 
The Indians also won the American League in 1954. (They were swept in the World Series by the New York Giants, thanks in part to that incredible back-to-the-plate catch deep in center by Willie Mays in the Polo Grounds -- a stadium with a huge center field.) I think the Indians had an incredible winning percentage that year. Rosen was the 3b on that team; I think Ken Keltner was still the 3rd baseman in 1948.
 
His relationship with Steinbrenner was epic.. One of the few , like Zap's dad, who would not take his crap..
