There are 4 power 5 programs that have managed to successfully avoid a bowl game the last 3 years in football and an NCAA tourney appearance the last 2 going into this basketball season.

Nebraska, Rutgers, Oregon st and Colorado.

Nebraska has no chance of making the tourney.

Colorado is 12-2
Oregon St is 10-3
Rutgers will be 11-3.

We have a chance of being the only power 5 program with no bowl and no NCAA tourney the last 3 seasons.

Thank goodness the power 5 conferences don't have a promotion/relegation agreement with mid-majors or we might be replaced by Memphis.

Interesting stats there. It does drive home Nebraska's decline in football in particular. I never thought of them as much of a basketball school but football was always another matter. I wonder how long ago was Nebraska's last streak of three seasons without a bowl bid.

Perhaps Huskeralways might know.

Not true. Colorado played Okie State in the Alamo Bowl on December 29, 2016. The basketball team was 21-12 last year and should have made it over a few questionable teams. Playing in the Pac 12 hurt them more than helped.

Oregon State football shot itself in the foot with WTF late-game mistakes to Hawaii. Gave up 17 4th quarter points to Hawaii to lose 31-28. Otherwise, they should have gone bowling this year.

Rutgers basketball has a chance to end this drought.

The next time they go to a bowl the huskers will bring like 50k+...even if it’s a minor bowl game...those folks travel well!

Colorado was in the Alamo Bowl 4 bowl seasons ago.... they missed bowls for the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons. Nebraska was in a bowl in 2016, too.
That's 3 no season ago. Look at the date: 12/29/16

You're right

Nebraska football drop is the biggest surprise. To me they are the quintessential Saturdays in the Fall football team with the likes of Alabama & Auburn, Texas etc. What they have no one else does or ever will. The entire state to themselves in a state where there is truly nothing else to do. You can’t quite understand Nebraska football until you go there. Driving into Lincoln 2 years ago was like driving back in time to some mixture of the 1970s and the Wild West. Felt like a steam locomotive was going to blow its horn in the distance and a masked bandit was going to come running out of one of the old brick bank buildings. Their stadium is brand new on the outside but it’s just a facade and once you enter the original stadium walls actually still stand in the concourse. At the tops of which (hidden unless you happen to look up) are giant medallions stamped into the brick of the seals of the original Big 8 universities .. go into the stands and there are people who you can tell have gone to Corn Husker games for 50 years and their families 50 years before that .. straw hats and overalls common, husbands and wives dressed up sitting in pairs. Just a sight to behold and of all the teams we play it truly blows my mind that Rutgers is in the same conference as them now it’s like a dream
