Okay, here's the idea.

We're gonna finish the season with a great, big 2fer.

Decommits happen, folks. It's a fact of life.

Let's not contaminate the board with endless threads about who, why, how, where they're going, why we wanted them, why we didn't want them, whether they had a committable offer to U. Nameit, or whatever.

Instead, let's inject some humor, Jersey style - let's give 'em the ol' Junior Soprano and show why the former commit Never Had the Makings of a Varsity Athlete!

My example to follow.

Lovett?? He never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

How do we really know what's going on inside a kids head when it comes to choosing a school ? Suppose we are 5-5 and we lose a couple kids, than you have to assume it's not a performance issue, but something else. If a kid didn't have the best intentions when he committed and he leaves, we'll never really know why. Can't just think because we're 2-8 that's the total reason.
If a kid likes the CS and the school, he'll come especially in our situation. If that's not enough, he might leave and that is not the type of player you want in the first place. Now hopefully we retain the kids who really want to be RU guys and are looking at the big picture.
We can probably always get bodies, but we need better talent and I think it will take extra time. This class will help us get the ball rolling.
Lets just make it thru these last 2 games.

fyi - I agree with most of what you're saying, obviously, but it was very well known that Taylor, and his family, were begging and waiting for an offer from Wiscy.

Okay, this ^ is precisely what this thread isn't about.

Way to see the whole field, champ.

Lovett and leave 'em? Meh. He never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

The idea was that this thread was less dumb than the 3+ pages of whining about somebody who got away.

As for "dumb" striking again - you continue to be a little twit. I'm more than willing to erase you, anytime you want.

Jesus guys He was trying to lighten up a fan base that is as heavy as uranium. We will not gain or lone one player because of Real or anyone else here.

Guys:

Real and I don't always see "eye-to-eye," to say the least, but com'on. Even I, someone who understands how insanely important recruiting is to the rebirth of this program right now, gets the gist behind this thread and had a little fun with it. So long as everyone takes it in stride, in good fun, and nobody bashes a kid incessantly, it's really not an issue. Heck, there are MORE negative things said about recruits, in their de-commit threads, than there are here. Think of it more as "stress relief" because I'm quite sure that the 15-to-18-year old recruits, reading it, aren't taking it nearly as serious as you guys (if at all...).

Peace

Unbeknownst to us all, Lovett WANTED to be a Scarlet Knight. Incredible hands. He could have had any scholarship he wanted but not matched his love for his own hands-they became his "true love". Towards the end the muscles in his hands became so strained with overuse, they locked into a deformed position. He has nothing left but a claw. Now cub scouts have to feed him.

Reminds me of possibly the best story arc of the best show ever!

..And the "parents from hell"

...And the friends..

That must be a doctored picture. So many on here don't believe in Pork Roll. They swear it's called Taylor Ham!
If you want the highest quality ask for Taylor Ham.
When any crap will do, go to a place that advertises Pork Roll

Because if you ask for Taylor Ham you can get any brand of pork roll. There is no such thing as Taylor Ham it has become a generic term for pork roll. If you want Taylor you have to ask for Taylor Pork Roll.

Even Taylor calls it "Taylor PORK ROLL" and not "Taylor Ham" anymore. And Trenton Pork Roll is every bit as good. [cheers]

Not in North Jersey, the finest establishments there know when you ask for Taylor Ham you expect the best John Taylor product.
Of course that was before I left Jersey and the dumbing down of Jersey cuisine ( like Taylor Ham) might have moved up from south jersey after I left.
I'm sure those who accept the inferior pork roll and say Taylor Ham doesn't exist also complain when they see a little grease on their pizza.
Taylor Ham is a state of mind and is considered a bit of heaven in the breakfast sandwich you order.
Order pork roll in it and your sandwich is from Limbo.
Where those who partake are denied the full enjoyment Taylor Ham brings, but are not being forced to eat spam instead.:D

Accept what you will, the dumbing down of the best food choices has ( sadly) become the norm for many who order a "Jersey Breakfast"
edit: By the way:
On April 14, 2016, Assemblyman Tim Eustace introduced an Act in the New Jersey State Legislature designating the Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese sandwich as the New Jersey State Sandwich

ASSEMBLY, No. 3667

clip_image002[3].gif

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

217th LEGISLATURE

clip_image002[1][2].gif

INTRODUCED APRIL 14, 2016

Sponsored by:

Assemblyman TIM EUSTACE

District 38 (Bergen and Passaic)

SYNOPSIS

Designates Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese as New Jersey State Sandwich.

CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

As introduced.

clip_image004[2].jpg

An Actdesignating the Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese sandwich as the New Jersey State Sandwich and supplementing chapter 9A of Title 52 of the Revised Statutes.

Whereas, For over 150 years, Taylor Ham has been a staple in New Jersey, commonly served as a breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese on a hard roll; and

Whereas, According to New Jersey folklore, Taylor Ham made its first appearance during the Revolutionary War where it was carried as field rations by soldiers of the Continental Army during the Battle of Trenton; and

Whereas, The first official Taylor Ham product became popular in the late 19th century when Taylor Provisions, Inc., based in Trenton, began selling “Taylor’s Prepared Ham,” begetting the nickname, “Taylor Ham”; and

Whereas, In 1906, the federal Pure Food and Drug Act was enacted, forcing Taylor Provisions to rename the product “Taylor’s Pork Roll,” which initiated the ongoing debate between residents of northern and southern New Jersey as to whether the beloved cured meat should be referred to as “pork roll” or “Taylor Ham”; and

Whereas, Though it may be difficult to find Taylor Ham outside of New Jersey, State residents are able to walk into nearly any local diner to satisfy their Taylor Ham cravings; and

Whereas, Taylor Ham has become an important part of popular culture in New Jersey, inspiring several festivals, websites, social media fan pages, and merchandise, as well as a song entitled, “Pork Roll Egg & Cheese” written by the band “Ween”; and

Whereas, As a result of the immense popularity and the great historical and cultural significance of Taylor Ham in the State, the Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese sandwich has become synonymous with New Jersey; now, therefore,

Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

1. The Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese sandwich is designated as the New Jersey State Sandwich.

2. This act shall take effect immediately.

I honestly couldn't care less about any of that, to be honest, other than that the assemblyman is wrong. Taylor Ham is the producer/brand name. PORK ROLL is the product. Because there were other producers such as Trenton Pork Roll, coming out of the area, "pork roll" is what it's called in one part of the state whereas "Taylor Ham" stuck in the north. It's still PORK ROLL any way you slice it (thick OR thin (boooo!) to me.

Essentially this guy wants to throw the name of the producer of the product, and not the product itself, into the name of the "state sandwich." The fact that he's from Bergen/Essex tells you all you need to know. I'll have to have a family member in Hamilton have their assemblyman propose a similar bill for the one, the only, "pork roll, egg, and cheese," to become the "state sandwich of New Jersey" instead. [thumb2]

Reminds me of people who call subs that aren't on hoagie rolls "hoagies" (but the opposite I guess lol).

You claim you couldn't care less, but the replies you are making on this issue tells another story. The hoagie example shows how desperate you are having pork roll accepted.
Heck I accept many people don't accept NJ's Breakfast Sandwich being ordered using Taylor Ham as the main ingredient rather than calling it a pork roll .
As for pork role sandwich being introduce as the official breakfast sandwich by a friend or relative's assemblyman, don't bother it was introduced by the same Assemblyman who put up the Taylor Ham one. I call that currying favor with both sides and not taking a stand for what's right (Taylor Ham) by giving it to those who would accept less than the best in Jersey Cuisine.
An example ( like your hoagie one) :
There are some that even want grease-less pizza and complain if they don't get one.
They probably whine about people asking for Taylor Ham sandwiches instead of a pork roll one and demand their hot dogs contain no onions, peppers & potatoes.
Along with the dog(s) be boiled in water not cooked in hot oils.

Obviously i cared more as I continued to type lol! Now the fact that he introduced both bills is, well, "odd" to say the least LOL!

re: greasy pizza...I used to have shore houses with guys who would have 20 drinks at Happy Hour then insist on dabbing the grease off their pizza. People are frakin' nuts!

But got the Taylor Ham sandwich like the menu called it .
Don't know if this is still around or how long ago picture was taken, but it looks like Taylor Ham is still being promoted if it is( at least by this Deli):

I once had a pizza that tasted like tomato sauce on cardboard with string cheese topping. No grease whatsoever and horrible when you grew up on the type of Jersey pizzas made in the 50s and 60s.
Also had a so called Jersey style hot dog that was on a regular hot dog bun with a boiled dog and chopped onions in some kind of (yuk) tasteless goo they called sauce.
I might joke around when talking Taylor Ham vs Pork Roll, but when it comes to my pizza and dogs, that's serious business.:boxing:

I kid around about the pork roll Taylor Ham thing as so many are so sensitive about it. Especially the Taylor Ham crowd because deep down they know they are wrong.

But when it comes to hot dogs there is nothing better than the original Texas Weiner in Plainfield. No joke!

Oh I agree! Now I need to have some rippers and a tomato pie soon!
