Rock bottom is a good thing, now changes can be made and hope can return with a new leader of the program.
It's bad and that's the only thing that counts.
But as bad as it is, do you think Jordan will be bought out after this season is over.
Unless someone comes up with the buyout money, I think Eddie will be returning
and if same garbage play next season he'll be gone at the end of it .
Those that are still defending Jordan probably feel 3 years is to early to dump him, especially if they felt it would take 7 to fix what's wrong with the RU MBB programs .
I stopped defending Eddie and am resigned if the money is found, he will be gone.
If so, hope enough is left over to hire someone considered a quality hire and able to bring in quality help , then worry about the facilities being upgraded

Everybody was saying the same thing about buyout money regarding Flood and last I checked, Flood is no longer our football coach. RU has a multi-billion dollar annual budget and can fire EJ any time it wants.
Tk give it a rest. Eddie couldn't do a damn thing tonight. If you have any basketball ball IQ, when another team comes in and shoots lights out and the guards you have available do not rebound or box out there is really nothing you can do., He called 4-5 out of bounds plays that resulted in scores or layups. He called a great play out of a timeout multiple times. We are out manned. The lack of height crippled us tonight. When Nebraska finally missed their bigs got rebounds and put backs.If DANIELS or Goode do nort want to rebound or play defense, especially DANIELS, not a lot he could do. If you do not see that then you are blind.
I have been very critical of Eddie, with his Nba style not working in college. His lack of input and allowing his assistants to coach during the game and at timeouts is not the way most college coaches do it. However, when a talent like White, the Kansas transfer, has a game shooting like that there is very little you can do. Any coach with our depleted roster could really not do more than he did.. What is he going to do , threaten Bishop with lack of playing time, and WHo does he play? A Walk on? Earlier in the year he sat him but without 4-5 guys he has no choice.. It sucks and we are pretty bad but not sure Eddie could have done anything to change it tonight. We are limited right now and if the other Big Ten team plays as well as it is capable considering they were 0-3 and desperate coming in, there is not a lot you can do if you don't have the players. No coach worth two craps is coming here with the current infrastructure as it is and too many people who want EJ fired are pretending that elephant doesn't exist. And ignores rebounding and defense in his practices. Perhaps some heart on defense would have prevented Nebraska from hitting 110% of their shots.

Goode just doesn't try hard enough. He doesn't cut hard or move to get open. He is playing scared , whyI do not know..In warm ups he strokes the 3 and makes 4 out of 5. Eddie needed a shooter badly and I guess he shoots great in practice against our defens e but is frozen in games. Princeton has 4-5 white guy's like Goode except, they cut, shoot great, play defense and rebound . Goode has to look in the mirror.. He didn't even look to shoot until a minute was left in the game. Eddiecouldn't tell how soft he was and is!

He did. Obviously Daniels has athLetic ability but zero basketball IQ and not sure Eddie could have seen that on tape. He also has lost the ability to sit him for failure to try and play defense or rebound not to mention his driving into traffic resulting in a turnover or missed layup, because he has no one left to put in with this roster.

Yes but he is limited in who is coming here. He tried real hard with Briscoe, who attended almost every game his junior and senior year and then Calipari held that camp and he was off to Kentucky.. The negative recruiting telling kids they have not been to the Ncaas in 23 years hurts his persuasion skills. The losing makes it harder..I do not have a solution but not sure someone else can help this team right now.
This fanbase is like the walking dead. We just eat ourselves. The team is decimated with injuries. He still has not done a good job on top of it, and eventually will be fired. But is it necessary to just take the extra leap and call him the worst coach on college basketball? Who cares, if he doesn't do the job here he's gone. Do we really need to drag one of the only shining figures in the history of this miserable program in the mud?
Eddie's record as our coach (which now includes our worst home loss since well before he was an undergrad) is doing more than enough to drag his image through the mud. The venting/musings of a couple dozen fans on a message board aren't relevant relative to the historically bad on-court product during Eddie's tenure.
Also, please cite posters calling him "the worst coach in college basketball". People are simply commenting that he has performed poorly as a coach, which they have a right to do at this point and IMO is hard to refute. If you think otherwise regarding his performance, feel free to offer your rebuttal/defense of EJ's record/reasons why you think he's going to turn it around/etc.
Agree. Hobbs didn't accept the AD position with the type of spending limits that will require him to keep Eddie after this season.
I will be more than shocked if Hobbs does not fire Eddie at the end of this season.

yesterday was terrible, but when Goode plays over 20 minutes we are in trouble. All I know is that Laurent played vs Indiana and we were competitive. Goode was switched on Shields which is a joke. Laurent should have been on him. And the rebounding is terrible. And I want to give credit to Williams who came to play yesterday and had 20 points, People have killed the kid and he was good yesterday.

Part of what looks like "shooting the lights out" is uncontested lay ups, or uncontested put backs of a shot.... If one of their guys misses from short range and a rebounder puts it right back in, your at 50% shooting just with that
Couple that with open, uncontested 3 point efforts, Almost any college squad will have a decent percentage with that stat.
I was there and it was very easy to see why Nebraska shot well when looking back at the stats..... Good defense by RU would have made it a different story.
EJ knows how to coach basketball. EJ cannot recruit a roster of B1G players. There's nothing else to say. $$$$
I will grant you Nebraska was 0-3 coming in to this game, but that was not a bad team. Miles has a roster that is 10 deep and when the Kansas transfer White shoots like he did, they are a better team. It is not an excuse it is reality, Rutgers and Eddie were down 4players all 6'6 or taller. The roster is depleted and flawed with Daniels, Goode and Foreman playing that poorlyand Corey not shooting well. Only Mike Williams , who had a great game, and Greg Lewis , had a decent game and Grier was not a factor. When that happens, and The other team , which is well coached plays their A game you get the ugly result. It sucks and reality. No one likes it. Stop with excuse bullshit but then you are telling me you know shit about basketball

We were just trying no to even out the weekend scoring. Wrestling won 34-0, basketball lost by 34. Balanced sheet.
You are blind. White hit 8-10 shots in the first half mostly from long range well behind the three point line or coming hard off screens and had 19 points. He was at Kansas and great defense might not have stopped him yesterday.
The lack of defense and rebounding on drives and put backs had little to do with how well Nebraska played in the first half
1)I am going to chalk it up to you just not being here long enough. What starts as "a couple dozen fans on a message board" can very easily snowball thanks to for example nj.com that loves to rile up the hornets nest. But it doesn't matter if its thousands or a couple dozen or just one. There is no need for anyone to take shots at him like that.

GoRu, I went to the game yesterday and my first thought is no one get in foul trouble. Game was over but Foreman gets two fouls and look who is on the court. Goode guarding Shields at times. And Lewis playing when his knee or knees are bad.

1) So the fear is that NJ.com is going to run some kind of expose on the basketball program based on what we're saying on this board? What kind of story can possibly be worse than a 34-point home loss to a fellow cellar dweller and upcoming beatings Eddie and co are sure to rack up in the B1G schedule? Shields, like me you have been rooting for Ru forever and yesterday was bad. But Shields got off early and then White went nuts with 19 and the effort on defense and rebounding was abysmal. Eddie is screwed with this roster but I think with Nigel, Doorson, and Freeman with Corey, Mike, DJ, Ibrahim ,Jonathon, we would compete better and win more. It is really bad now. Players have to play better

I have watched Nebraska, it is not a good team, they will finish below 500..does that make them good? They lost to Samford at home by 11. Nebraska continually got second chances for easy shots, because the effort was not their on part. Stop trying to put lipstick on this pig. People saw this live yesterday, they don't need to be told they saw something else

I gave EJ a complete pass for first 2 years. I expected to see improvement this year. We have regressed. Hobbs needs to take action.
For Rutgers firing coaches is the easy part.Finding a winning replacement has been the hard part because of financial constraints and the perception of the team.The anxiety of fans rises as the embarrassment continues unabated .
