I actually watched a documentary on George "Iceman" Gervin last night and started lamenting the three-point shot as well. The guy could have put up 70 many nights with the three, but since he didn't have that option, he had to find many other ways to score and develop all aspects of his game. His patented finger roll shot was a thing of beauty. The three took away a lot of creativity.I loved the NBA.
The 3 point shot has slowly killed the game. I was definitely a fan when it came out. Players who are playing now are born with it and have mastered it.
It is what it is and I realize I am in the minority.
Looking at the point per possession numbers for college over the past 5 years you can see it having more and more of an influence.
