On Sunday, three of the greatest Scarlet Knights of all-time will be honored in the rafters as members of our inaugural “Knights of Honor” class

I loved the NBA.

The 3 point shot has slowly killed the game. I was definitely a fan when it came out. Players who are playing now are born with it and have mastered it.

It is what it is and I realize I am in the minority.

Looking at the point per possession numbers for college over the past 5 years you can see it having more and more of an influence.
I actually watched a documentary on George "Iceman" Gervin last night and started lamenting the three-point shot as well. The guy could have put up 70 many nights with the three, but since he didn't have that option, he had to find many other ways to score and develop all aspects of his game. His patented finger roll shot was a thing of beauty. The three took away a lot of creativity.

I remember watching him play, but back then you didn't get to see many games from teams like the Spurs.

I have a memory of being pumped when I turned on the Sunday CBS NBA game and had the San Antonio Spurs on.

Yeah, it was cool to see "other" teams once in a while. I remember rooting hard for the Buffalo Braves to beat the Celtics in the playoffs one year. You could also see different teams when they played the Knicks on Channel 9 and MSG. Back then, MSG shared a local access station on Storer Cable in my area.

I just hope some idiots don't boo Eddie because of his coaching disaster. This is all about Eddie the player along with Mike and Hollis
Just rebound really well since he didn’t coach that (his own words as I recall).

Man I hope the Piscataway DA is lenient… cause I’m gonna bust a few heads of anyone within my reach if they boo Eddie 😉. He is a loyal Son and a Rutgers All Time great that just was not a good fit as our coach (we were floundering and did not support hoops for years leading up to his reign). He succeeded as a player (RU and NBA) and as an NBA coach which we should all be proud of. Do you think Georgetown should boo Patrick Ewing?

It‘s ridiculous that anyone would even consider booing. Don’t be that guy.

PS - Eddie is a genuine good guy and he loves Rutgers

This is just gonna be awesome for me

I started watching RU hoops as a young kid and fondly remember going to the RAC and see Hollis in his senior year as part of the ABC front line (abdel sboukd ne included in this by the way)…and fondly remember watching Hollis as a knick and Eddie in the RAC as a New Jersey net (with Bernard king)

Love this

Gotta admit... not crazy about the fact the Knights of Honor players' uniform numbers are hanging from the rafters. Visitors will be confused which players are Knights of Honor guys and which players have their number retired.

Love the idea, hate the execution. I can honestly say there are too many banners at the RAC right now.

Rutgers has to keep digging deep on these things given our historical stellar sports achievements ya know.
For the record I was 17 and I certainly appreciate that team (came to RC the very year after). We can book the 50th anniversary (God Willing for them ) in 2026. But it is time to create some new material. (sorry. 47 years of mostly crap results has soured me).

For those of us in the group who really only knew Rutgers basketball as a perennial loser (at best) and source of university embarrassment (at its worst), these things are a lot of fun.

I’d say on the younger side…but it feels weird since our group is well into our 40s now.
